I am using a Tartan turf mat when hitting off a sim. And don't get me wrong, I understand that having a perfect lie that is always level makes a difference. But I went out to the course for the first time this week after a lot of simulator play this winter and I was chunking EVERYTHING. I couldn't hit a solid iron to save my life. Even off of a perfect fairway lie.
My question is, could I really be hitting ever so slightly thin on my mat, and the same shot IRL is just going to be terrible? What can I do / are there any good mats that are more in line with hitting on real fairway?
