  • Frame Protection idea - wedge shaped soft foam gutter filters

I saw these at Home Depot.

I am going to place them along the inside edges of my enclosure to protect from a stray shot hitting my EMT frame.

They are a foam material that is not too hard and not too soft. They are wedge shaped so they will fit nicely. The price isn't that bad either.

I have been using these for about 6 months. They work pretty well. The biggest problem is they tend to move around. I tried sliding them behind the screen but after a few hits the screen goes back behind them and the balls start falling between the screen and the wedge.

I tried putting draft dodgers on the front of the wedge to hold them in place but it did not work well and the balls would get caught up in them.

I also tried to attach them to the bottom rail with zip ties. In the end the zip ties just tore through the wedge.

Please let me know if you come up with any ideas to secure them.

I have used these for a couple of years. I have them glued to a piece of plywood and then attached to the ceiling I have wrapped them in black fabric. When I build the new sim room, I will be using these again.

I had custom foam triangle wedge things made up by foamsource.com for anyone interested in doing something similar with specific lengths (though it's easy enough to cut foam). The nice thing is that they will make them in whatever dimensions that you want and looks to be a bit cheaper than the option posted above. You can also choose what firmness you want the foam.

I have nothing to do with the company BTW.

I just ordered a custom set from CushionsXpress
        (http://www.cushionsxpress.com/produc...ons-39-39.html)

It's cheaper for higher density foam than the triangle one from foamsource, and you can do it as a trapezoid rather than a triangle so there's no point where you have zero-thickness protection.
