  • Gungho DIY with Eagle Enclosure Review

After much deliberation and research, I determined a lot of the enclosures on the market have little feedback on them. So here is my impressions of the Gungho DIY with Eagle Screen

I was looking at Carls place and Spectrum golf as well, but felt Gungho is involved in the community, helps solve problems, and the price was right.

Ordering is a good and bad thing, good is you work with one of their reps and they get exactly what you need, the bad is you cannot just grab an off the shelf unit and order, you have to go through the process of getting a quote. So if you want to click a box and order, not the right company for you. I liked the service I recieved and got exatly what I wanted. So happy here.

Payment was easy and painless. System was paid for in a few hours.

Shipping, there was no shipping estimate with the order, and I did not ask (I should have). Ordered 3/10/23 received 4/26/23 so roughly 6 weeks. Had to ask for updates, none provided and the website was not much help. Got answers each time I asked, but not really a estimated shipping date. So this is not great, but they answered 100% of my emails so that was good. I think a shipping estimate with the order should be provided and updates if it will be missed.

Enclosure was delivered fedex, fedex sucks here, they took an extra 3 days, not on gungho this is just fedex. Box was intact and parts in great shape.

Installation was a bit fun, not really hard, but the instructions are complete crap. They made a video but no audio with it and really bad angles. The written instructions are pretty much useless. Now its not really rocket science to set this thing up, but I believe there are ways to make the screen evenly tight that could be described. I will probably have to unwind the bottom and redo it at some point as it is loose in the middle and tighter on the ends. Assembly took probably 3-4 hours total with 2 people. Hint, pull the thumb screws and replace with the kit included bolts. Also the pieces have 1 long insertion and 2 short. This is important to figure out how long to cut the conduit. That hint would have been helpful. Fortunately we dry fit some things before cutting.

Overall the screen looks really nice. It is showing some wrinkles on the lower corners I can fix by re-rolling the screen at the bottom. Picture quality is excellent, it is pretty quiet to hit into, the ball does not bounce back. It basically drops about a foot off the screen even with a driver. You don't need foam blocks on the conduit as they do a velcro rectangle on the screen that the sides connect to which keeps the ball away from the edges. Bottom I just ramped the carpet up a bit which protects it. I do get some balls back from the bottom if I scald one, but I think the turf has sunk a bit. Again easy fix with something to ramp the turf. Overall I am really happy with what I have and it works great. Let me know if you have any questions.

Enclosure is 9x14x3.5'. Using a ViewSonic 4K projector, with a custom build gaming PC running 4070 ti graphics card. Bushnell Launch Pro.

How much space do you have behind the screen? I was looking at their product and will be putting some expensive theater speakers behind it. I'm mostly concerned about the center speaker. I'll have about 13" between the screen and the front of that speaker.

I have about 12-13" from the wall to the screen, I keep the left and right channel just inside the conduit frame and they are fine (polk xt10 I think). I would not put a center any lower then the top bar or a foot below it. The center of the screen pushes back quite a bit when hit and I think the Center would be at risk. Higher there is a lot less movement on the screen. I have been waffling on the center channel for a bit, but will likely put one in this winter. I would mount about 7 to 8 foot high I think.
