  • Keep projector filter clean!

Hey guys, just a heads up....

I had my lamp fail in my projector the other day. Projector is about a year old. Specs say lamp should get 5000 hours. I doubt I am at that but I can't check the lamp timer because...well I can't turn the projector on without the lamp.

Going through my manual, I realized that there is a filter that is easily removed for cleaning. It was clogged solid with fine dust. Likely my lamp overheated.

Anyway, I ordered a new one. Luckily not that expensive for my Epson Mg850HD....$200 or so plus shipping. It is being overnighted which is good.

Check to see if your projector has a filter, and keep it clean according to your manual.

My old one had filters all over the place that I had to clean all the time. I was surprised when I looked for them on my new one and could not see any. I checked the manual and never found anything. My first thought was "were is all that lint and dirt going?" It's amazing how much crud gets in them filters at 11 ft in the air.

I had a bulb go on my LCD Epson HD705 due to a dirty filter. I now use a DLP projector and they don't use filters. That may be the reason you don't have any filters in your pj, Tom.
