  • Benq TK700sti 4k Resolution

I don't know the answer to this but hopefully its a simple question someone can help with.

I have just purchased the new Benq TK700sti. My screen is 10 x 7'6 so 4:3 aspect. If I change the display setting in the computer to a 4:3 aspect resolution i.e. 1920x1440 do I still get 4k or only HD?

Is there a higher resolution for 4:3 that I can custom input that would fit the screen?

By the way the projector is awesome

And also is it possible to have different resolution for different displays so my projector screen in one resolution and my PC screen in native resolution- is this done by extending screens and not duplicating?

When projecting that in 4:3, your image resolution will be 2880x2160. You retain the 2160 vertical pixels that are native to the projector but the horizontal pixels get reduced from the native 3840 to 2880 (2880:2160 = 4:3). When selecting a resolution, you should see that as an option. Make sure you are doing this in your graphic card settings. You will then need to do it in the graphics settings of whatever software you are using (TGC, e6, whatever). And of course you need to change the aspect ratio on the projector itself by using the remote control to go into the settings.

Your screen is already a 4:3 size (120 inches by 90 inches = 4:3) so there should be no need for a custom resolution. You should be filling it in any 4:3 resolution. If you're in 4:3 but your screen isn't filled you likely don't have it mounted at the right distance.

Thanks 3on3putt with the resolution set to a 4:3 aspect resolution such as 2880x2160 there is no need to adjust the aspect setting on the projector as the projector is already projecting in true 4:3 resolution so 16:9 set on projector with graphics and display set to 2880x2160 gives the best resolution as opposed to a 16:9 resolution set on computer and 4:3 set on projector (which is slightly squashed). The issue im having is I have a multiple display set up and the monitor is 16:9 and doesn't have 2880x2160 or 1920x1440 so when duplicating display it will only duplicate to what the monitor can do i.e. 1920x1080 which 16:9. I then have to set the aspect to 4:3 on the projector and loose the true 4:3 resolution. Its squashing 1920x1080 effectively.

I think you might have to extend and not mirror (duplicate) the monitors. Have you tried that already? (Should just be a right click and then "display settings" and then "extend.")

Have you gotten to the bottom of this? I have the exact same question. I use a touchscreen mirroed to the projector and am looking to upgrade my projector to either 1080p or 4K projected on a 4:3 screen. I am wondering if I’d be limited by the touchscreen resolution. Currently most touchscreens appear to be limited to 1080p resolution like my Planar.

You changed the screen projector? It display and show the whole screen? I have a 10x8.5 screen and right now it's in a 16:9 ratio
