  • Mevo Plus - why can’t it just connect to existing Wi-Fi network?

Hi everyone - I have a Mevo Plus and I love it. But I’ve had a question since I got it. I understand the importance of the unit functioning as it’s own router so when you’re outside you can connect. But for indoor applications where the user would also like internet access, why can’t the unit just connect to your existing LAN / router instead of having to serve as it’s own network?

I’ve been in tech my whole life and I can’t see any technical reason why this wouldn’t be possible. You could just have it log onto the network and then the software could just point at its IP address. This way people wouldn’t need to mess with multiple network connections when trying to play online.

Just wanted to post the idea. Hopefully it’s something they would consider working on. Seems like just a bit of development work but nothing too hard.

I beleive this can be done if you call support to have you set it up. The issue is really latency with reads form the unit getting to the software quickly enough.

Ok. I hadn’t heard anything about it. I know that with a fast Wi-Fi connection and router it should be minimal latency. I’ll give them a call and see what they say.

Yes, please follow up, would be very interested if I could connect to the network. Would make it much easier when streaming to a TV as well

I noticed that the latest versions of FSGolfPC has added a "Client AP" mode in the advanced wifi settings page but sadly it's passport protected.
I inquired to Support and they said they have to protect it otherwise users could potentially lock themselves out by mistake and thus would require sending the device so It makes sense but I still wish I could get that feature as I never use my mevo outdoors and it's static 100% of the time.
I looked into adding an ethernet interface but that would require serious kernel hacking to add and their firmware is encrypted sadly.
So I might just end up using a Wifi Bridge for now...
(my PC is remotely accessed via HDMI/USB-over-ethernet)

I told them it would be nice if they could at least sell and optional ethernet dongle though..

But did they provide an option to activate the Client AP mode?
