  • ES 16 Interface application- fact or fiction …

    I picked up an ES16(white model) device early last year. I had read all the product warnings etc but have had great success with it. Now I’m trying to extend it into playing simulation with TGC19. But I need the “integration application” to use TGC19 and despite a couple of emails to Ernest sports, I can’t get any response or access to the required file. Can anyone confirm: 1) is this interface application a real thing, 2) is it available for public download anywhere and 3) is it even worth it or should I just go back to SkyTrak or follow the E6 simulation option with the ES16

    thanks in advance for any answers I can get

    Maybe Bubba22 can point you in the right direction. He has some posts about the ES16

      I would contact Ernest Sports or Protee. Where did you purchase TGC 2019 for ES16?

        Hi - Bubba22- I contacted Gung-ho golf to acquire tcg2019 - they said they contacted protee and that I needed that interface file. I’ve sent messages to Ernest sports asking how to get the interface - no replies - that’s why I reached out here since I know there are a number of folks )like yourself) here with valuable and related knowledge 👍

            I have the black model of the ES Tour Plus (if that matters), and have to say that with TGC2019 the combination is excellent. Even putting is wickedly close to real. Just a few issues with the audio trigger and the fact that it will not record a fat or duff shot (which kind of kills some realism). I would love to know more about the "white" model. Is this a new ES TP V2?

              So here is a story about my ES16 and where it is today. A couple of years ago I was hunting around for a Launch Monitor (LM) after years of Optishot, and TittleX. I really enjoyed TittleX because of the E6 software, and interestingly enough learned that the devs of E6 used TittleX as a development tool for the software. But anyway, so I looked at Skytrak, but I hated the idea of subscription just to play the software I owned.so I asked around about the ES16 TP. Jay was kind enough to do a full three-part video on it for his youtube channel. Everything clicked and I've not looked back. It fit my needs and really I could not be happier with the choice. It has some nit-pick issues, but nothing showstopper. So anyway flashback to the present day... I have the Garmin now in my pocket that I can compare head to head... and it's nearly identical maybe a little faster in the response, a lot smaller... but you get the idea.

              So two weeks ago, I went to my local golf course (Senaca) for a round and played my usual 90ish crap but at the 12th hole, I had a bad lie in a shallow wash-out from a rain. I thought a 7 would work, and it did but the club face was buried in the dirt and I sprained my wrist! So for two weeks, I've felt like a caged animal. Getting restless, I thought, I wonder how far I can push this simulation. Jay gave me advice on a projector after my Optoma 1080ST blew a power supply. He suggested the Optoma 1090HDR as an alternative. It was a 1080p gaming projector that could take a 4k input which it does. My graphics card is a Radeon RX 590 (which at the time was a bargain). So with nothing better to do than mess with computer settings and let the wrist heal, I tried kicking up the resolutions. On a 4k tv, and the Optoma 1090HDR, I was able to get a very stable 2k HDR x 2k config. It was amazing to see the Optoma in a 2k HDR format. 2k = 2560 x 1440 (or 1440p). I found the HDR format somewhat problematic with Windows, but wow TGC2019 looked very impressive on my 12ft x 7ft wide screen impact screen.

              I was also playing around with "reshade" (reshade.io) to tweak some lighting in TGC (and E6 too) and saw the SuperDepth3D option. So 2 and 2 make 4 so, I thought I would try it. The Optoma 1090HDR has a 3D option that I never used, so let's see where this will go. So I read up on the Optoma and find that it supports a shutter glass signal called 'DLP mode', and so after a search on Amazon, I had a pair of DLP LCD shutter glasses and had those at my house the next day. So, after charging up the batteries in the glasses via USB, it was time to test.

              I set up my config initially as dual screen 1980x1080p for both the Optoma projector and the TV and launched the TGC sim (I found later that 2k x 2k worked just as well). I switched the on the reshade and enabled the Superdepth3d shader to do side-by-side stereoscopic 3d, and then switched the Optoma to 3d stereoscopic side by side, and BAMM!, a perfect Eye-popping 3D display of TGC 2019 rendering of the Charlie Vettiner golf course. So can a person play golf on this I wondered? After just messing around doing flyovers and all of that cool kind of VR stuff, I set up the ES16. No problem with it in a dark room.

              My wrist is still sore but somewhat healing, so in the name of science, I thought I would give it a swing. This friends...is fun. So with shutter glasses, I can see the ball, and club, but as I tilt my head up, I see a 3D fairway in front of me. So ... first shot... Pow... into the fairway, the bounce-n-roll in 3D is mind-blowing. In the Next shot, a sandtrap, and the sand walls look so imposing. So I have my impact screen just 8ft away from the tee, and a full 12ft x 7ft screen, and due to the short throw on the Optoma 1090HDR, no shadows are cast on the screen. The effect is very immersive.

              A few more days later and I can now hit my driver to about 160 yards, so I played the front 9 of the Protee's tour all in stereoscopic3d and the observation is it makes the putting much easier to read by eye. Even birdied the 2nd hole with a gimp wrist in stereo 3D. That was fun folks.
              Don't be surprised if you next see me with shades on;

                Just a correction. It's reshade.me not reshade.io.

                Thanks Bubba22 - the software reseller indicated (in consultation with ProTee) that Ernest Sports should provide the interface file. My only concern is that the software cost is non refundable so any missing interface file issues will sit with me.

                Based on your feedback, I will reach out to ProTee for my own confirmation..

                thank you
