  • Is there a video tutorial of using the alignment lights on the SkyTrak?

    • CLUB DATA NOW OUT! I"M STOKED! Playing around in the short time I have this afternoon and it seems good so far. Some mishits got no read (too excited, I guess), but the others look good so far. Not sure I'll get to do driver today.

          • I've gone through OptiShot to Skytrak to GC2. All with a cost and investment. I struggled with my Skytrak and had way too many "No Reads". I got so frustrated!!! I finally said I'm going to try the GC2 and pay the price. I couldn't be happier! I mean it when I say that! When I switched to the GC2, I have yet to ever have a "No Read" or "Mis Read". The GC2 is freaking dead on every time! That alone was worth the cost and I no longer have any frustration. The other big advantages of the GC2 is no delay waiting for the shot to display. Other HUGE advantage compared to Skytrak and ES16 is the extra large distance between the ball and unit. The ES16 looks way too close to the ball. The Skytrak is pretty close too. I have had plenty of amateur golfers almost hitting my Skytrak. The GC2 is so far away it's no problem for any golfer. Since the GC2 seems to be industry standard, I don't understand why these new units are coming out with far less distance between the ball and unit. The GC2 should be the unit to model after. With Skytrak I did like the laser alignment. With GC2 I just align with alignment rods. Works great. The ES16 doesn't have an alignment tool. For the cost I would recommend a GC2. Proven technology and once you use one, trust me you will finally be satisfied with no frustration! Like I said, once I moved to GC2 I've never had one misread or no-read. Not once! It's that accurate!

Seconded. Frustration free>>>>>the possibility of club data. And I'll bet that the new Foresight GCQ unit releasing in January works 100% perfect right at launch. Any takers? Also agree that it's absolutely insane that a company would release a $6K produce with a tiny ball box that is even closer to the unit than Skytrak's.

The ES16 is as accurate as a Skytrak. You will get no reads. I'm not noticing any misreads really. The bonus is it's comparable to GC2/HMT which is $14000.

i hope for the money and technology that it is more accurate than skytrak. i recently took skytrak to the range for the first time and went through a big bucket of balls. around 5% to 10% of my shots showed the wrong shot shape on skytrak. i'm talking about obvious slices showing as hooks. has ernest sports said if the es16 will work outside yet?

            100% correct.

The size of the ball box (or lack thereof) is the main reason why I returned. It was literally the size of a poker chip. So small that it was generally not possible to roll the logo toward the unit with the club and still stay in the box. It essentially required hand placement of the ball. Think 1/4 of the Skytrak hitting zone (at least in July when I had mine). Drop and hit >>>>>>>>>hand placement w/ club data any day.

Not only is the hitting zone small, but it is extremely close to the unit (way closer than GC2 and even closer than ST).

I was extremely disappointed, as I figured that the radar component would allow for a hitting area even larger than GC2 and close to that of the pure doppler units.

Went GC2 and so glad I did.

            • Here's my thoughts on this thing. I've had it for 2 weeks. When I first got it I was struggling to get the light to turn green. When Bubba first brought it over I thought it was terrible because we couldn't get the light green. The reason is the area the ball needs to be placed is very small and the logo needs to be perfect. Skytrak has a laser, GC2 has a screen showing where to put a ball but neither need a logo and both work. To get it to work I put a mark on the ground where to put the ball and I have to bend over and place the ball in the spot with the logo pointing and walk away. By the time I'm standing over the ball it's green every time. I got less no reads this way as well. The manual says 12 inches but the video says 9-10. The better the ball is placed the better it works. New balls work better than old ones. Is it a hassle? Of course but I got used to it quickly. It's easier than someone that lines up the ball for putting IRL.

The data it provides is amazing. That its strength right there. Ball and club data in pretty much all categories. No dots, no attachments. Is it better than a GC2? No. The GC2 and Trackman look and feel like they are made by NASA. The ES16 and Skytrak look and feel like a lot less. Who knows how these things will be in the long run.

the delay time in TGC and the app is slow.

              Ill post videos now.

Are you getting the option to putt? Is TGC waiting for you to putt and does it say PTT on the ES16?

Yes, everything shows correctly but the ES16 is just not recognizing my putt. I tried putting the ball in different spots, I tried different putters... I emailed them. We'll see what they say.

                    • I am only about 7 feet away from the screen. Will that work? Also is club data added yet? I haven't taken my skytrak out to the range yet although I feel like I should because I'm starting to doubt some of the shots at times.

If this can be guaranteed more accurate with club data I might have to use a 0% interest credit card.....

I hit some shots from 7 feet but that is in the middle of my putting green. I've never hit off the putting green before. It worked but I'd check with ES first. I got fine results from 8.5 feet.

                    • Here's a video with club data.

There is no pole at the bottom. Just a little extra screen. I don't recommend a pole. Balls will bounce off of it.

I have pipe at the bottom of mine and it's covered by pipe insulation. It's nice to have, but it still bounces off hard when I hit it;It does make the screen tight when I want it that way, but...

                    • If one was to buy one of these, whats the price right now? I can't find them anywhere. Also I have a TGC license for my skytrak, can I transfer that license? I'm not sure I'm ready to jump in just yet, but as a newer player club data would really benefit me so I can stop guessing as to what the club is doing.
