  • Optishot Nova Launch Monitor with Orion Software

Just noticed this now becoming available in UK. No real independent reviews etc on it, from a quick search on Youtube. Seems expensive for the data points put does include a sim for free.

Golf Simulators from Optishot give you a great virtual golfing experience at home. Come see our mats, monitors, and simulators.

    HI

Its basically a mlm2pro with putting, 20 courses and no subsriptions, using marked taylormade balls for accurate spin axis.

Not bad for $1700 considering the software looks much better than rapsodo's.

Rapsodo were always going to play a losing game by trying to compete with other sim software specialists.

good news, more choice and competition for home users.

Uses Taylormade TP5 pix golf balls, which are already widely available, smart.

    Don't forget, includeds putting.

It's an interesting proposition. Priced slightly too high (if it's accurate), but hopefully the price will drop. I recently sold my GC2 (support concerns) and went back to an MLM2Pro as a stop gap. After year 1 I've got to pay £170 Rapsodo Sub + GSPRO ~£200. I hardly use most of the GSPro features. So as a total yr1 £500 for MLM2Pro (discounted from ebay) + £200 GSPro. Yr 2 £370 in sub. So over £1000 with GSPro. I'll await some independent reviews.

Will also have the same issue as the mlm2pro in terms of required space behind and front of ball.

Looks like it's 5 feet behind the ball which is less then the MLM2Pro. I presume it needs to be closer in order to 'see' a putt.
Again I'm guessing it will need limited ball flight if it's camera only tracking.
Access to the camera recording to get impact vision??
Jury is out until I see a few independent reviews. Only one 'shill' review so far on Youtube.

            Hi

I'm going to go out on a limb and say this nova will work perfectly.

It's old tech now that has been tweeked and perfected.

As far as required space goes, if you can swing a club you'll be able to use this monitor.

This is basically what the mlm2pro should have been from the start right out of the box.

This price point will also put pressure on the original skytrak, since the marked taylormade pix golf balls are easy to find and purchase worldwide.

Still no independent reviews. Optishot marketing needs to step up and get their product out to the Youtube 'influences'- unless it's not very good :-O

I have contacted them to do a review but not sure if that will happen. I question the accuracy until it's well tested.

Update: I have the GC3/Eye Mini and Protee with access to the Trackman IO. I have reached out to test it and post the results. No word on a unit yet. They really need folks to test and review all their units.

I agree Whiskey Jack. Where are the reviews of these units? They need to get units reviewed and compared to market standards like Foresight and Trackman etc.

Absolutely, It's not just their hardware but also all their software is proprietary as well. As far as I know anyway.

I've been at the sim game since 2017, and by no means am I an early entrant. I would not however, buy anything without independent reviews, and not just a couple. As well, I think there are people on this forum, you included, who are trusted sources. So it would be nice to see reviews posted by those individuals.

              HI everyone

I'm sure there will be plenty of reviews, just a little patience needed.

This is not new tech so pretty sure it will be accurate.

I wouldn't expect anyone to pre order anything ever.

When is mlm2pro going to enable putting?

Nova will hopefully give them a little push.

The only thing about their products is that there have been very few reviews of the Ballflight or Galaxy and they have been available for some time now. Why is that???

                  Asked Optishot about two things:

                  1. Distance required from ball to screen: The just said just enough to swing, Given camera picking up ball for normal shots and putting I would have thought there was a need for a certain amount of distance. Very short putts may also be an issue as putter might block camera view.
                  2. How is speed of club and ball measured: It uses camera only. Do not know how this will be accurate given position of camera and ball moving away from it.

As stated their Ballflight etc has very little reviews. The ones I read were not impressed with accuracy. Maybe this is because they do not actively issue to influencers on Youtube etc. Seems a little silly in terms of advertising.

I completely agree Wilson. They really needed some reviews and testers. I would not recommend their products until I see some honest reviews or better still actually test it myself. There is absolutely nothing on their products. Strange!!!!!
