  • SkyTrak TGC Settings config file explained?

    Hi,

I just got TGC a few days ago and am using it with my SkyTrak.

My question: Is there a comprehensive guide / explanation of the various settings in the "SkyTrak TGC Setting" (.txt) config file? I have seen various threads already talk about a few of the settings, but thought it'd be great if ProTee or someone could put an official post / sticky explaining all the settings and their definable ranges (e.g., are the Boost settings 0-100? 0-10? etc.):

    [General]
    High BackSpin Correction=ON
    Show Club Data=ON
    Putting Straight=ON
    TGC Borderless Window=OFF

    [Course Configuration]
    Green Stimp=5
    Green Firmness=1
    Green Speed=3

    [TGC Online]
    Shot Recording=ON
    User Name=[YOUR USERNAME]
    User ID=[YOUR UNIQUE ID]

    [Skytrak]
    Horizontal Angle Correction=ON
    Short Chip Correction=OFF
    Putting Correction=ON
    Driver Boost=0
    Wood Boost=0
    Iron Boost=0
    Wedge Boost=0
    Putter Boost=0

I've bolded the settings that I haven't seen as much info about.

    Thanks.

      [General]
High BackSpin Correction=ON With this off any drive under 1500 RPM falls out of the sky
      Show Club Data=ON
      Putting Straight=ON
      TGC Borderless Window=OFF

      [Course Configuration]
Green Stimp=5 The speed of the green when putting
Green Firmness=1 How firm the green is when landing
      Green Speed=3
The greens speed relative to how it was designed

      [TGC Online]
      Shot Recording=ON
      User Name=[YOUR USERNAME]
      User ID=[YOUR UNIQUE ID]

      [Skytrak]
Horizontal Angle Correction=ON With on all putt go dead straight
      Short Chip Correction=OFF
      Putting Correction=ON No idea
Driver Boost=0 Boost is obvious. It adds ball speed. Max is 5% on tour
      Wood Boost=0 Same
      Iron Boost=0 ASame
      Wedge Boost=0 Same
      Putter Boost=0
      Same

I've bolded the settings that I haven't seen as much info about.

      Thanks.

No. Low spin drives on TGC won’t stay in the air. The correction fixes that.

Putting straight will do exactly that. Straight putt every time with speed and green break being the only variable. If off, then your putting direction left or right will be taken by the Skytrak horizontal measurement.

Putting correction factor uses the measured Skytrak horizontal angle but limits any large angles.

Meant to reply to mthunt's post above. See above. Can't delete this reply.

Where can I find this file? I just got the software installed today!! Love it so far but can’t hit driver in my basement so I need to boost driver setting! Also does the ‘hard’ driver setting onscreen result in more driver distance?

I saw at least one thing I can speak to here that I found some info on once upon a time and have tested to be true.

            Short Chip Correction=ON

Ever notice that when you go to putt the ST red laser goes off and back on? I don't know what the exact change it's doing is, but what I found said it's changing so it can read very low speed swings better. Short Chip Correction=ON changes the ST to that slow speed setting on any shot 20 yards or UNDER and OFF the green. (On the green it automatically changes to that slow speed setting and putter.)

Go to Chipping Practice and see for yourself. My short chipping in game became so much more consistent after I turned this on. Which is good because I was very frustrated with the reads on 10 yards and under. I still am, and get a lot of misreads due to slow speed or VLA or something, but at least it's better.

I haven't the foggiest idea whether or not this is an apropriate place for this question, but here goes: I thought the "Course List" provided would be an excellent place to start when looking for a course to play. However, I can't get anything past the first page to load. Any suggestions? I am just interested in finding some courses to play.
