Course creator application helping architects make virtual designs a reality

A newly-launched golf video game may transform the way real-life courses are designed and built. Canadian firm HB Studios launched The Golf Club on a range of platforms this summer, but as well as the main game, the product includes a course creator application that is being used by Greg Norman’s design firm as a tool in its day-to-day business.

That's awesome. Do you still think the initial sim release will be in the next 1.5 weeks?

    3D walk around in TGC!

Yes, it's there. Only available after pressing Q. Then hold down the left mouse button and move the mouse to walk/float around. Right mouse button will allow fast spinning left or right. Press Q to get back to last position.

I tried it on my remote control mini keyboard and it works pretty good. After testing, we can request this function to be remapped to the keyboard arrow keys.

    Thanks.

Credit goes to bubba22 for getting HB and Dennis to connect about a year ago.

Great looking vids! The TGC partnership is extremely encouraging for the future of golf simulation. Hats off to HB Studios and ProTee for shifting the industry paradigm.

A couple of sim makers have signed on with TGC. Watch for their announcements. This means more online golfers and hopefully, some of them will join our tour.

It's almost ready. The rest of the beta testers will start testing next week. Watch my Twitch or Youtube videos if you haven't seen them. It will depend on how many problems we find, but maybe another 1-3 weeks.

I think it's random within the stated distance range. Which is pretty cool and realistic.

In the fairway it's always like 99-100% (0-1% penalty).

TGC terrain penalty system is pretty cool. Every course uses the same labels. And the penalties are shown at the top right corner along with a picture of the ball and the lie. i.e. sand, rough, heavy rough, etc...

And the penalties are not a fixed amount. It's variable depending on the lie. If there's a lot of grass behind the ball and you're trying to muscle the ball out with a 3W, you're going to loose a lot of yards. Also, the lie penalty will be shown as a range. For example, if you're in heavy rough, it might say 70-90%, which means 30-10% penalty. Still not sure what it all means yet, but I like it.

Yes, that would be cool too. Perhaps that will happen some day.

That is cool! You can change the ProTee player but everyone would be the same. It might be fun to have the players in the group standing around so you can see who you are playing with. Really LOW priority but still.
