Anything wrong with buying the original for $495 and then upgrading in a few months if I just have to have the 2019 version? The price is about the same---so I am not trying to find a deal.

TGC2019 is the way forward but buying TGC1 looks to me like it's a legit way to split up the payments and not have the initial big hit. Buy TGC1 save up a bit more cash for a few months whilst enjoying TGC1 then upgrade to 2019, works out exactly the same cost as buying 2019 outright. I think that's what dmoore was getting at.Comment

I personally like TGC a little better than 2019. The multiple tee choices in 2019 are really a nice addition but other than that I don't see a ton of other improvements in 2019.
2019 has the weird first bounce, and all of the "your level" and "your money" console players hoopla. Seems substantially slower to load. I think the find a course interface is much clumsier. And I don't think the greens check up as well on a high RPM short iron.
2019's multiple tee boxes are a great addition though. I don't do the tournament stuff so there could be a wealth of improvements there in 2019.

From my viewpoint TGC 2019 is better than TGC because of multiple tee boxes (yes everyone hits from the same tees in tgc) and the grahpics are way better in 2019. The screen redraws much faster as well. I also think the interface in 2019 is better.
you idea of getting both for the same price to me makes sense. Get TGC and then play until you have the cash for 2019....funny about humans the more we wait for something the better we enjoy it. ForeComment
