  • Looking for computer help

I am by no means tech literate, but this seems to check all the boxes on what TGC needs to run on SkyTrak for a very reasonable price.

Can anyone here confirm I’m not over looking anything? Or offer other suggestions around the same price point?

    Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

That has an integrated graphics so that will not work. You might be able to add an graphics card but from the picture, it looks like you will be limited on what types of graphics card and unknown power supply. General rule of thumb, get a pc or laptop with 1060 graphics card or better. 1060 is getting little old, so 1660 is also good, 2060 is also very good but more money.

As Gotkimichi said, it must be a "dedicated" graphics card, not an "integrated" graphics card. Integrated graphics cards are ones that sort of built into the machine whereas a dedicated card is kind of like an after market card. (Not exactly but it's a good way to think of it)

Thanks for the feed back!! I’ve been lurking on this forum for a few month, the community here is awesome!!

The computer portion of my build is driving driving me nuts! I’ve never been a computer guy, this will be the first computer purchase of my lifetime haha. I’ll be sure to add the dedicated graphics card to the check list though and keep searching. I have about 4 more weeks until my SkyTrak arrives to find the right one.

Might have some deals for black Friday. Here is a Costco deal right now. https://www.costco.com/.product.1423483.html

Yep, as others have said, an integrated graphics card won't work. I have a Dell G5 gaming laptop with a GeForce GTX 1660 graphics card and was having no problem running the game in 4K on an external monitor. When I disconnected it from the external monitor, I would play for a few minutes (or even a while) and the game would suddenly crash. Upon digging into it, I realized that I had my graphics processor settings to "auto-select" so it was defaulting to the integrated graphics processor when running without the external monitor and that was causing the game to crash.

I would definitely recommend investing in a computer that will handle the game properly, otherwise, it will end up with a lot of frustration and headache.

              Thanks for the feed back!!

After searching all night and most of my work day I think I found what I’m looking for. I know refurb is a little shoty, but I’m pinching penny’s and the old lady won’t allow another $7-900 purchase after all the money I’ve put into the rest of the build. I’m thinking I can slowly upgrade the card or whatever else is necessary in the future with the bones of this one.

Check out your local FB or CL ad's. There are gamers who are always upgrading, you could probably find a good deal there.

$630 for this, if you use the promo code.
                  https://www.newegg.com/skytech-st-ch...Lz7mOfqd7TQVww

It has ssd so a faster hard drive, faster graphics card, faster cpu compared to your refurbished unit.

That’s where I started, but I’m in a pretty small neck of the woods so there aren’t very many options.

The one in the link isn’t ridiculously priced, seems like a fair deal. Just looking for confirmation that it will run TGC on SkyTrak without issue. I’m not going for 4K, just trying to run 1080 smooth.

                      Thanks for that Gotkimchi!!

For an extra $70 that’s seem like a massive improvement to the refurb.

Go with the suggested one as the one you found seems pretty minimal. Also as noted above there are a lot of good gaming rigs popping up for sale now that the new 3000 series cards are out.
