  • Adopt a Golf Course

I am going through my spreadsheet of courses that have been in beta for a long time. At this point, the course is 80% done. If you know the course and want to adopt it, the cost will be $150 to get it published and ready to play for you and everyone else. We will meet up on zoom to make sure that the edits you want are done correctly the first time.

This list is from 2020 and never heard back from the customers.
You can go here and you can copy the course name in the field to the left and adopt the course.

Once I have time, I will be posting more. There is probably 75 courses in the beta stage. Stay tuned. It is a shame to let these courses go by the way side.

I have to verify, but this list is from 2020, and never heard back from the customers. To speed up the process, just email me kent.shaffer@thelidarking.com and let me know which course you are interested in getting finalized and published.
I will be adding these to my website to "ADOPT" once I pull in the betas for each one. If these courses are owned by someone here, contact me!

I see two on this list that I'd be willing to "adopt", but adopt as in I'll finish them for everyone, no charge. I realize that cuts your business model, and I'm not trying to be a jerk to you. Perhaps you'd be willing to let them go? I can also understand being sore at someone doing them from zero on their own, but that is the risk taken by listing these.

I'd just rather spend the time, than the money. It's like crafting anything for fun, and not profit; The work is the reward.

Hey Kent, I see Spring Brook is on the list. You haven’t sent me the beta link so I’m assuming it’s from another customer?

oooh I am extremely tempted to adopt Laurel Hill. I live in Northern Virginia and it's my favorite course in the area.

I can't wrap my head around why someone would pay for a course and the abandon it. People are weird.

I am a perfectionist and so are my customers. Although most "beta" courses in the list could be published as is, I refuse to, and here is why.

People pay me for the interaction within zoom to edit the courses live together. This allows the client to see exactly what we can do and once agreed upon, we make those changes.
People pay me to totally redo courses that are already "published". These are pathetic creations that put a black eye in the course creation community.
There are times that looking at google earth and flyovers doesn't cut it. There may be stuff around tee boxes (flowers and steps) that they just recently put into the course. I put these types of things into the final product. Sometimes after 4 or 5 betas and the customer is ecstatic about the course, we finally publish the "FINAL" version.

I want the course to be a piece of art. These courses need to have the attention of someone that actually plays them and can provide feedback so the final product is over the top.

Your "business" model? It would be like Rembrandt doing an entire painting and then him saying.. Hey Shipwreck34 , please sign this painting and take full credit for it.

                            Enough said

Well, I'd hoped for a more amicable answer, which is why I was trying to be nice about it. I understand you put a lot of effort into these courses. I know I do, too. Instead you chose to be insulting, and take a stab at plugging your "superior product and methods". Once again, I understand, and I'm sadly not surprised.

Long story short then is... I hope you get someone to pay for the courses I'm going to do before I finish them for you. Chance you took by listing them, and bear you poked by responding in this manner. A DM with a lighter tone would have probably yielded better results. Just saying.

Good news for you is I'm already working a project, and I typically don't spend much time on this during the summer months. So there's plenty of time for you to try and sell these abandoned projects.

Care to take a different tact, or want to keep poking? Your call.
                          Working...
