Hi guys,
Following the Farmer's tournament last week and the abysmal round I had at the ProTee tournament at Torrey Pines South, I decided to look into creating a LiDAR version of Torrey Pines South and North courses. I was able to get what looks to be fairly decent LiDAR and have started creating the two courses. It is still early stage but I have the foundation of the South Course done with all 5 sets of tees and 4 pins in positions 1, 2, 3, and 4 as per the scorecard. I ran through a playtest on the sim tonight and it was quite enjoyable (especially being able to reach the fairway and not having a 275-yard second shot on a par 4 (haha). Because the course is so visually stunning, I wanted to capture as much of the terrain as possible so used a fairly large LiDAR plot and didn't really mask much of it. That will limit my plant meter but since there aren't many trees on the course anyway and the terrain really is the star of the show, I figured I can probably make it work. I still need to go back through and rewatch the Farmer's tourney again as well as scour YouTube for drone coverage to get all of the nuances right but I think it shows promise.
Please let me know what you think.
