Hi All,
I have just published a new Japanese LiDAR Course, Golf % Country Oak Village, published as Golf 5 Oak Village (LiDAR). The course is located in Chiba Prefecture, just outside of Tokyo. This is a really uniquely designed course where each hole is designed (and named) with the motif of the Legend of King Arthur. Bunkers, ponds and monuments are placed around the course representing the origin of the legend. The strategic layouts never let the golfer get bored.
The course was designed by Desmond Muirhead. Born in England. (1923-2002) Studied architecture at the University of Cambridge, landscape architecture at the University of British Columbia, and horticulture at the University of Oregon. Representative works include Mission Hills Country Club (course hosting US women's major tournament) and Muirfield Village Golf Club (course hosting PGA Memorial Tournament). He has been involved in the design of over 110 golf courses in 15 countries around the world, including 9 courses in Japan.
The course designed by Mr. Desmond is characterized by its formative beauty, with elements such as art, mythology and sculpture interspersed throughout the course (including a replica of Stonehenge). "From the air you can see the composition is amazing, but on the ground it looks like a normal lynx," said Desmond. As the name suggests, Oak Village is filled with holes modeled after dragons and women, crowns, and fish-shaped bunkers.
Please give it a play when you have a chance.
Cheers,
Stephen
