Rovereto GC Dinosauri Park LiDAR Golf Course
I invite you to try a LiDAR-based course I created, called Rovereto GC Dinosauri Park in Italy.
Based on a preliminary study and using LiDAR files from the selected area—while minimizing alterations to the natural elevation—I designed an 18-hole tourist course in Trentino, northern Italy.
The area is known for a Jurassic-era landslide where footprints of various types of dinosaurs were discovered.
For this reason, I also created models of ceratosaurs and some herbivores. Unfortunately, the available land is limited, so I had to adapt the course layout accordingly.
There are four tee boxes and four pin positions—please try out the different setups.
Dante Alighieri also refers to the area of Lavini di Marco, near Rovereto, in Canto XII of the Inferno from the Divine Comedy. He describes a landslide believed to be the very same one where today the famous dinosaur footprints can be found. Here are the verses:
> "Just like that ruin which struck the flank of the Adige, on this side of Trent, whether by earthquake or lack of support..."
> "Qual è quella ruina che nel fianco di qua da Trento l’Adice percosse, o per tremoto o per sostegno manco…"
Dante uses this image to describe the descent into the Seventh Circle of Hell, comparing it to the landslide that struck the mountainside above the Adige River.
Thank you and enjoy the round!
