  • TGC 2019 Quick Guide

I started compiling a list of settings/tips/etc for myself because I forget or lose the thread on here. It has kind of evolved into a quick guide of sorts and covers a lot of FAQs that are asked a lot. Figured I would post it on here for anyone to use. let me know if I missed anything and I'll update it. Hoping this could be pinned on the forum.

    TGC 2019 QUICK GUIDE

    SETTINGS FILE ON DESKTOP
These settings seem to work best for most people to create the most real experience.
Greens would average around a 10 stimp with these settings combined with in game course conditions (see settings in TGC).
    Green Stimp: 6
    Green Softness: 1
    Green Speed: 3
    High Spin Shot Correction: OFF
    Straight Put Patch: ON
Driver Boost: 5 (optional depending on LM)
    Shot Recording: ON

    SETTINGS IN TGC
Before Match, go to Course Conditions tab and change to:
    Green Speed: Moderate
    Green Firmness: Very Soft
Terrain Firmness: Soft or Very Soft
For optimal projection, make sure time of day is midday with 0 clouds for most courses.

    TWEAK & TIPS

    FEWER MISREADS
To cut down on how many misreads you get, try these tips:
Point logo of ball at LM
    Don’t use white tees
Do not wear white shoes or pants
Do not have anything white or shiny behind where you swing and where the LM takes images

    SKYTRAK BALL PLACEMENT
Driver: place ball behind red dot
Irons: place ball direct on red dot
Wedges: place ball 1in in front of red dot
Putter: place ball behind red dot

    PUTTING TIPS
    Straight Putt Patch ON.
Calculate an assigned value for how fast the lines at each grid box are moving and aim accordingly.
Go to mthunt dead flat range and learn what putting to a number feels like. Concede to Hole 2 and it is a putting course.
Set your Camera View to hide the ball and try hitting closer to screen, around 6.5ft, to help visualize the put.

    KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS & DISTANCE PENALTIES

    PLAYING SOCIETIES
    Rules: https://golfsimulatorforum.com/forum...650-tour-rules
Gimmies: Go to Gameplay in TGC and set Gimmies to 2 yards
    Wind: None
Shot Recording: Turn it ON in Settings file on Desktop
You must then create an account and sync your nickname. Full details on this step here:
    https://golfsimulatorforum.com/forum...shot-recording

Shot Recording saves all data from every shot in the game on the tour site under your name. You can export the data for use in a big data tool. Make sure you change the game to your actual club you are using for this data to be accurate for analysis. The game usually has something like 5 iron selected when I’m hitting a 7 or even 8 Iron.

    ACCESSORIES
    HITTING MAT:
If you want to avoid injury, there are 2 main options below. This is a must-have in my opinion.

    FiberBuilt
For anyone with a Fiberbuilt Grass Series hitting mat who finds themselves in need of a new surface, shop authentic Fiberbuilt replacement golf turf panels here.

    Divot Action
    https://www.customdesigngolf.com/div...rade-mats.html

You can DIY the Divot Action if you want:
    https://golfsimulatorforum.com/forum...vot-action-mat

    TEES:
Birtees or rubber tee holders work best. FiberBuilt sells a tee holder.
Try to use tees that are not white. Red and Black seem to cause least amount of misreads.

    CONTROL BOX:
Shop the best golf simulator control boxes at Golf Control Box. Take control of your golf simulator and improve your game.

If your computer is not directly at your hitting location, this box is a huge time-saver. You can tap any of the buttons with your clubhead to aim, club up/down, target view, flyoever, rewind and more.

Additional options are wireless mini keyboard, Voice Attack, and AirBoard on iPad/iPhone.

How can I measure distance from ball to specific targets like hazards with TGC 2019 simulator?

Scroll your mouse over the mini map on the corner to your target. It will display yardage under it.

How can I do gimmies and rewind shots (mulligans)? Neither show up on the Pause Menu, nor anywhere else I can find, except that Auto Rewind shows on the practice menu only.

When you press the esc key the menu will show rewind shot. Be careful when there are more than 1 player. You might get unexpected results.

Is there a way to set double/triple bogey max? Conceding a hole and taking an 11 really hurts. Is there a way to choose which holes you want to play vs all 18 or front/back 9? Thanks.

This might be one of the best posts up here, period. I just wish you would publish all of this in a nice PDF file, with specific instructions based on LM being used (ProTee, GC2, Quad, Trackman, etc). To be honest, I'm also not sure why ProTee themselves has not put together something like this in a paper format to ship out (manual)? If we all ask for one, or they see how much activity this thread gains, maybe they will take notice?

Thanks again emveel and I appreciate your work on this.

Profiles & Hosts? How do I create a profile or host so my wife has her own profile to create a match? It seemed my name had to be playing. trying to figure out how she can create a game when she has friends of to play? Any way to save profiles for guests? I tried saving my profile and when I can back a couple days later it went back to default? Thanks

Pretty sure that is not possible. It is my understanding TGC 2019 only provides for one saved profile. When you add players, you can edit them for name, nationality, R/L handed, but it won't save the guest profiles. Has to be done each time.

I don't know if this has already been posted here or not, but I stumbled across this guide and thought there was some helpful stuff in it. Apologies if this has already been posted =

How can I add courses to play? Something like the Pebble Beach course, I can't find a way to load it on my PC.

All the courses are already there. The courses are all cloud-based so you're not actually downloading them or anything. From the course select screen you can search by highest rated or trending or whatever. You can also click "more search filters" at the bottom and then on the upper right side you will see "search courses." Then you can just type in the name of the course you want like "pebble beach" or even just "pebble." Some courses will have a lot of versions come up. Choose ones with:

                  -- the 4 and 5 star ratings
--the ones with a lot of plays
                  --the ones labeled as "Lidar"
-- the ones that have been handicapped with a course rating

The key is being able to determine which version is the best version in order to separate the really good pebble beach version from some of the junk ones. Looking for those criteria will help with that.

Thank You, When I go to this page: https://golfsimulatorforum.com/courses and I click on the blue "i" on the far RH side of the list, or when I click on a page # at the bottom, the page grays out and I getting a "busy" symbol, just hangs there regardless of what I do. Any thoughts on that? Click image for larger version

Not sure what you're looking for but it seems like the info link doesn't work in the embedded spreadsheet. Original is here:

That website can be a little buggy. It's a nice reference but it's not a complete list. The best thing to do is just search for a courses by name in the game itself. Did you try that yet?
