  • Replishot: Use Optishot with TGC 2019

I have recently been working on custom software, Replishot, to capture data from the Optishot, process it and use it in TGC 2019. I've recently published my first pass of my program on github here. If you click on releases on the right there is an .exe you can download (Windows only). The page also has a readme that gives basic information on how to use the program.

Essentially the program captures Optishot data, processes it, and then turns it into mouse movements which TGC 2019 will recognize as a valid swing. The swing will change based on how hard you hit the ball as well as club angle, etc. The program works with the "video game" version of TGC 2019, not the "simulator" version.

It is very much a work in progress. I would appreciate feedback on improvements people would like to see. I am still working on getting more accurate ball flight based on what the Optishot sensors report, so if you're an avid golfer and the shots don't seem quite right... well, I wouldn't be terrible surprised at this point .

    New release! Replishot v 1.5.3

Added back in arcade mode... Arcade mode was not affecting shot distances, but now is again. The formula is a bit different, so the multiplier used before may not be quite right this time around. Also, arcade mode will NOT affect putting distances.

Awesome job Zaren! Been trying this out for a couple days. Is there any way you can give the best layout for options on your software? I am using an original Optishot which I used to use with Tiger Woods 09 before they stopped or nearly made it impossible to keep this platform. To my knowledge when Dancing Dogg changed to Optishot 2 it was just a software change. It really does improve your play but the courses suck and are very expensive. EA Sports had issues with them using Tiger Woods so every update sent out basically erased the ability to use the EA software. I put my Optishot away but recently a friend told me about linking TGC2019 with software that will pick up the “Gamepad” which is outstanding! Some courses are simply amazing! Play from your Rapishot is good but my clubs, like other reviewers, do not change or I get a 130 yard shot with a LW and have to change on Rapishot. It’s not an issue but Kona a pain to walk to the computer continually. It might just be a setting that I have wrong but overall love what you have done! Thanks for all of your hard work!

Thanks for the feedback! As for the club reading, all the code is written to just support 1920x1080. If it's working at all then I'd guess that is the resolution you're using. If you're having issues with the club reading, you can turn it off and use the front row of sensors to control the club and shot type without having to head over to your computer. The details are at the end of the readme:

        https://github.com/zaren171/RepliSho...cial-functions

I also find that sometimes changing the club (using the front sensor) will get the club reading to lock back on, and then once you're locked again you can change to the club you want.

It is in the options menu to turn those features on, so you'll want to make sure it's set there too.

Great work on the program! It makes playing with the Optishot very enjoyable.

Is there a way to decrease the putter strength in the config file? I know that you removed it from arcade mode but the putter is too strong. It seems like I barely hit it and it goes very far.
      Thanks!

Hey, thanks for the feedback. I could see the value with putting, though I feel like putting is always terrible to try to do virtually. I know the local courses I play seem to vary greatly from day to day. That said, since the original writing of the code I've found research charts with club head speed to ball travel distance for various STIMP ratings, so there's the possibility of trying to match up with one of those. The hard thing there is that I need a completely flat green somewhere to test things out. I'm not going to make any promises, but if this keeps burning in my head it's likely I'll push an update.

New minor update here. 1.5.4 alters putting to be aligned with research data which had club head speed and distance for STIMP ratings. Putting will be "more realistic" though may not be to the STIMP you're hoping for...

Thank you for the update! I will try it out soon.

We now need to get this to work with GSpro. I think your code could be used to allow putting in combination with the Garmin R10 which would make a pretty nice simulator.
