  • Video issues with 5.0 update

Since downloading the 5.0 app, the video quality is terrible. On the lowest quality setting the image lags and is choppy. My computer exceeds the requirements, and runs TGC19 just fine. Any suggestions?

So I'm working on trying to figure this out too. Recently built my Sim, running a brand new Ryzen5 CPU with an AMD RX6400 low profile card.

My suspicion is shaders, reflections, and lack of graphics detail toggles.

For instance, with course play any hole that doesn't contain water, I easily peg the frame rate at 60FPS, more than adequate. Pebble hole 17 averaged around 35, still more than fine. Switch over to either city range or accuracy island and the frame rate drops to average of 25 for city range and 23 for accuracy island. Still workable but not ideal.

City range has a lot of scrolling crap going on the digital signage and I suspect this is what is dragging down the numbers.

Accuracy Island has lots of water and water reflections.

I've looked through all the files in %userprofile%\appdata\loclallow\skytrak for game settings but haven't found what I'm looking for. It would be great if instead of very generic high > low graphics settings we had the option to enable/disable things like water detail and reflections. also, why aren't reflections disabled on low detail instead of turning the reflections into minecraft style blocky images? the blocky reflections are decidedly worse than no reflections at all.

I fully understand the RX6400 card is essentially bare minimum however it works and is dirt cheap and one of a small number of acceptable low profile cards which is a requirement for the system I have available to run the sim software. I would have gone with the low profile nvidia 4060 and probably still will but I need a bit of time for the wife to forget how much money I just spent building the sim ;-).

I had been running version 4 of the software for a few years without any problems on a computer I built for my simulator. It's a Dell Optiplex 390 mini tower, with an Nvidia GTX1650 graphics card. I didn't have any problems until I upgraded to version 5 of the software. All of a sudden, the unit wouldn't register shots, and would usually display the error "COULD NOT PROCXESS SHOT (INVALID SPEEDS)". I worked with Skytrak technical support to resolve the issue. First they had me install the latest Nvidia drivers. That didn't work. They had me check the GPU performance in Windows Task Manager, and the GPU was constantly at 100%. They said that was the problem, and we tried a few more things, including reducing the video quality (in Skytrak Settings) and fully uninstalling and reinstalling the software. That didn't work. So I decided to upgrade my graphics card, which also required a new power supply. I bought an Nvidia RTX3060 on Amazon for $179. The power supply I got was a 700W unit, even though the card only requires 550W. It cost $59 at Best Buy. After installing the new components (which was easy), the GPU usage is down below 90%, but the laser sensor is still not sensing the ball being stuck.

so this is a BS response. when a render engine is running, it will ALWAYS consume 100% of the GPU unless some limiter is specifically placed on the system. For example, the game overwatch caps frame rate at 60fps in the menus as they hit rare edge cases where the GPU would get extremely hot as it ran at a billion FPS since the graphical load was next to nothing. As soon as you get into the actual game though, this frame limiter is removed and the system attempts to consume 100% of the GPU so as to keep the framerate as high as possible.

you can confirm this with your new 3060 by disabling any type of vsync and let the unity game engine create as many frames as possible. this will cause visual artifacts aka 'tearing' but it will consume 100% of the GPU.

i'm hoping for official gspro support as i'm not super impressed with course play nor the level of support from skytrak.
