  • Putting and chipping issues resolved on mevo plus using tgc 2019

Well...Here goes for my first post!
Hello everyone! I have had a Mevo+ since October 2020 (which started as just a golf net in my garden on the first lock-down) I have had massive issues with putting and chipping mis-reads/no-reads etc.
After using tips on here (many thanks to those who have posted these) and a hell of a lot of trial and error, I have finally got my set-up working like a dream. I would like to share everything with others out there who have been through what I have been through as it has been (at times) painful and heart breaking!!! So, to kick things off, could someone let me know where to put this thread so it will be easily located by other Mevo+ users that may need it. I am using TGC2019 and will try it out on E6 if anyone requests it. I will also do a video of my build and talk through the set up etc. and post it on YouTube with a demo of different length putts actually working with no shenanigans!
It is a build that has been done on a budget. So far away from a £25k out of the box system, so I'm hoping this will help others who have or are planning to do the same. It's well worth the effort

    All the best,

    Neil

When you calibrate the camera is it aligned on the right side of screen (orange arrow) or middle screen (black arrow). If orange arrow, then does that not mess up the alignment on screen target which is centered? i.e. if you have the camera aligned right and your target in TGC2019 is centered on the projection screen will it thing you hit right to left? Hope that makes sense.
Can someone comment on this question? I am ready to install my new floor/turf, and I have the same question about the Mevo+ alignment.

    Thanks!

      Hi Guys,

To answer Sandro's question...Basically you will not be hitting into the middle of the net as your target line is parallel with the mat which is pretty much the line the sensor looks down. So a right handed player will be hitting balls into the right hand side of the net. So if only right handed players are using your set-up then you could shift your net more towards the right (if you have room) but this is only a preference but would make for a better experience!

      Hope this helps?

Hope to get my Mevo + in a couple days - very helpful info I hope. The one thing I noticed is that on your diagram you have the mevo in line with the putting ball position but the chipping and teeing off ball positions is offset to the left (if looking in the screen direction) and not in line directly with the mevo, Am I reading that correctly and is that advised. Thank you for sharing.

Yes, you have read it right! And it has been working for me (teeing off and chips to the left and putting to the right).

Neil Ally Screenshot attached - since we had limited space initially, we are using a rubber tee mat section for driver (right arrow) of the putting mat in the middle. Left of the patting mat we purchase DivotAction mat so we were not hitting on concrete like mat. Gives great feedback when you chunk a shot.
This setup has been working and numbers accurate for us, minus the phantom putts. For phantom putts I worked with FS support and they logged in to the mevo+ via PC connection and updated a parameter on the setup available to them only and increased the time. Phantom putts no more.

Is this still while using v17?

Excited to see this forum after a few days of trial and error and still no luck. I just got everything going with my setup and going to be trying some new things after reading everyone’s posts. I’ve only been playing 3-4 nights so far but spending most of my time tinkering with the setup. Putting mainly is not reading anything 90% of the time. Chipping isn’t bad but could be better. I originally started all this with the new .17 update then called support the next day. We went through my whole setup making sure nothing was interfering but with all my other shots working really good, I knew something was off on my setup. Support ended up rolling back my version to .16 and also recommended putting the Mevo on the floor then in FS updating the height setting to 1”. Both of these did not work and saw the same results last night. I ended up updating back to .17 right away. There were times I would go grab my putter, come back and the ball would fly!

I’m going to work on getting everything level with no gap, maybe even moving the front mat in the picture behind me and getting the Mevo flush. Currently hitting on a mat 1 1/2” thick and have a block the same thickness that the Mevo sits on. Never thought I would have a problem with a gap from Mevo to hitting mat but sounds like that needs to be corrected. Then I can work on the distance Mevo to tee on putts like mentioned from others including Neil.

            My current setup:
            Tee to Screen - 10ft
            Mevo to Tee - 7ft 4in

I actually can’t hear anything from the projector. Was impressed with this one, maybe because it’s a laser? Anyways, last night I tried a new setup and man was it great compared to other nights. No mis reads on putts. Big thanks to Neil of course for the 3.5 distance. I even think I tried one at 4ft and it didn’t go so well.
The different setup included moving it over a little and I started putting on the green carpet I had laid out. I put the mevo on the floor as well.
In the FSGolf app I put the height setting at 1”inch, where I was hitting from on the mat. Only thing I will say I felt like some of my woods were slicing big time when I felt like hit it dead straight. I’m going to try and put the mevo center of screen and hitting area, see if it will still pick up putts. Chipping was a big improvement as well, somehow. I still chipped off the mat.

Craig Bilsky good to hear your getting better results and happy playing. One thing to keep in mind is that m+ doesn't hear or see anything. It reads differentials in velocity so it goes through anything that isn't metal and looks for movement.

Good to know thanks! I keep trying different things to test the best results, then finally I can be done with the tinkering :-) Yesterday I I moved it a little more behind the center point and back on the 1 1/2” block. I went to putting practice and hit about 50. All were on point exactly and I actually have a set putt for 5/10/15ft etc so it will help me with distance. Chipping was great then I went to the driving range. My biggest struggles right now is the driver/3 wood/hybrid. I had a biggg slice a lot of the time. I tried hitting about 6 inches left of center line (circle on tgc). This worked amazing and was hitting them great. Didn’t think about that with how the mevo wasn’t exactly on center point but close. Going to try more of this today

Neil Ally Thanks for posting your setup in detail. Is this still working fine after the latest firmware update to .17
