  • The Golf Club 2019 – Top 100 Course – Best Recreations…

Although TGC has a lot of great course recreations to choose from, the challenge is that popular courses have dozens of versions published, with no effective way to determine which ones are the best. For example, August National already has over 30 published versions! Although TGC has a course rating which could help, most of the course don’t yet have any ratings given.

The goal here is to share findings on top recreations based on quality and realism. Although this can be subjective, at least it would narrow it down to an initial few to choose from…

The list below is from the top 100 course of 2018 as rated by https://www.top100golfcourses.com/ This is probably best managed as a shared google spreadsheet, but I’ll leave the to someone else if they want to migrate it J

So if you have tried out most versions for a particular course and found what you think it the best, please post below! So the next person can search less and play more!

Hopefully in the future HB studio will incorporate better ways to quickly preview, search and review the courses…

Only worked on it for 2-3 years over a couple of games in TGC brand,Done with official Strokesaver Guide for accuracy and the fairways are wide open for you sim guys, only problem maybe it is a little dark in main game to try to get effect of pot bunkers in places because you can't do them in designer.Love the course shame its gone from Open rota.(PS the 6th should play as a Par 5 for you sim guys). Can't make waypoints different in game for pars

    Number 54 (Railway OOB)

Yelts, is Royal Lytham the one removed because they won’t allow women?

It's the Honorable Company of Edinburgh Golfers (AKA number 10 on list Muirfield) who only allowed ladies late last year,Royal lytham been taken of Open rota due to logistics reasons, size of plot etc they perfer Royal liverpool (hoylake) now instead of lytham for the men's event just due to how many people can go.Will still host R and A events like this years men's senior open, but it seems the proper open will not be going back for a while.

Also applies to Turnberry as well,More due to the owner of the course plus also location but since the changes were made to the course Turnberry one of the best courses in the UK.

I see you mention you've done 7 of these courses, can you give me the names of the ones that you have done? I would like to add them to my tracking list i've published for people. Also, if you can let me know if they were done with lidar or if they are a RCR.

Sorry its 6 in total at the moment, with Portrush being the 7th in a few weeks.....added another what will play well in sim nice wide fairways loch lomond and 63000 yards as well.No LIDAR on console but each one took around 6 months to do over the history of the game and also done with the official Strokesaver guide from the open...you can play along with royal troon here.

Just joined TGC2019..........is there a place to find an updated top courses list or is the above still a good list? And what specifically is the name of the best Augusta National course? I've heard about Firethorn but looks like there are several of those as well.

                  Thanks for any advice.

Firethorn members tees is probably the one you want. I'd suggest when searching for a course to play use the "Highly Rated" option inside of TGC. Always look at the number of plays and/or the rating, that's a fool-proof way of knowing your playing the right version. If you page through the highly rated section there are hundreds of great courses.
