I’m about to start my simulator build. It’s in an existing garage - I built to store my boat (just sold it). As you can see - it’s bigger than just the boat garage area - but I’m looking to limit usage to the boat garage - which is approx 12’ 8" x 35’ (12’ ceiling). I’m going to build a small bar / lounge area towards to front of the garage so decided the best layout is in the yellow box area, which gives me a 12’ wide screen (10’ high). The wall return on the left side is 3’. I figure I’ll build it into that space, have it be 5’ deep and hang moving blankets behind blackout curtains on the sides and behind the impact area on the screen.
I’m going to pick up a Skytrak and, I guess, a PC so I can run TGC. I’m a Mac guy but guess I need a PC for this venture. I’d like some thoughts on this from everyone.
I have an extra projector I used for outdoor movies - it’s a BenQ HT1075. It’s capable of side-throw adjustment (it’s a long throw projector) so I’m going to try to use it, offset to the right of center to avoid shadows. This is going to be set up only for right handed golfers (I don’t know any lefties).
hitting surface will be a Quattro mat.
I guess I’ll put some athletic pads down with artificial turf in the area. Can someone tell me about the need for a putting surface?
How far come the screen should the hitting area be in the scenario?
what else?
