  • New construction, huge room, looking for build advice

    Hello all,
Another long time lurker/new member looking for advice on a build. I have a unique situation that I haven’t seen in previous posts, but reserve the right to be proven wrong! We are building a new home and will have basement underneath a three car garage. The space is approximately 36 x 21, and we believe we will be able to do 14 foot ceilings (there is a chance that will get kicked down to 10 feet, but trying for 14 to give the kids a little more room to mess around with balls). Space will be a huge rec room to kick soccer balls, shoot hoops, and house my simulator. After a lot of thought, I was thinking the best bet might be to make one of the short walls a huge screen and baffle wall. That would make it almost 21 feet wide and could go all the way to the ceiling. I was thinking of a large screen surrounded by carpeted wall, carpeted wall on the sides coming out 6 feet, and either some netting or angled carpet panels from the screen coming out to the ceiling to knock down errant lobs. Amazon sells Drop down projector mounts that are automated, would seem to protect the projector when not in use. Whatever I use for a hitting mat could be dragged out of the way to give the kids a little more space when not golfing (or left there and they can run around it!). Any advice? This is brand new space that we can fit out anyway we want. I liked the idea of not needing a cage or anything to move out-of-the-way, just one big hitting wall, is my plan feasible?
