So just thought I'd share my garage build that I'm working on right now. Pretty excited about it.
I'm doing the majority of this build on the cheap and if needed I plan on upgrading and modifying in the future. If anyone sees something that I might have missed or has any suggestions, I'm all ears. I'm kinda just winging this. Really just trying to get it up so I can get it going.
I bought a Skytrak which has arrived and I'm super excited to set it up.
My space isn't super big and there are a couple doors that get in the way that I have to work around. I always imagined that I would go 10 x 10 for the hitting screen but after a bit of measuring out it would get in the way of the man door and the side panel would block the garage heater. So I ended up going with a 8.2' x 8.2' impact screen.
I decided to build the frame out of 2x4s. Was deciding between 2x4s and EMT. I always thought I wanted to build out of EMT but I priced it out and between the bulk tubing and screen end pieces it was going to cost almost $600 - $800 and I wanted cheap for now. I bought the 2x4s which cost me about $35. Happy with that savings. I posted a picture of how the frame turned out.
I built the frame 6 inches wider and taller then the screen to allow for the bungies to take the slack out.
Materials that are on the way:
Impact screen - https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B09...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
6 inch and 9 inch ball bungies - https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B09...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
10 foot x 52 inch blackout curtains - https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Eye screws - https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Hoping everything gets here by the end of the week to put it all together.
I plan on using two of the curtains on each side that I can pull out into position, I am going to use one hung on the top angled up to protect the ceiling and I was going cut up the other as matrial to cover anything else that doesn't look good.
(that orange roll up door never gets used so don't worry about it)
