Hi there (sorry for such a long post),
Almost sourced all the bits and pieces to build my first sim. Going with a 2023 mevo+ and trying to work out best set-up to leave unit in one place for right and left handed players and also best set-up for putting. Will initially just use the E6 courses/software that come with it, but open to exploring other sim software as I get set-up right. A couple of questions:
1. I have a 1.5m x 1.5m commercial quality hitting mat... I'm thinking of getting a second identical hitting mat, cutting it in half, and adding to the right hand side (facing screen) as a standing area for lefty mates so I don't need to move the unit. With hindsight I should have just bought a wider hitting mat, but I've got what I've got now... (and with hindsight we'd all play off +4... lol). Thoughts on this solution?
2. My research suggests that you can actually have your putting zone inline with the hitting zone alignment (so both are straight down the line) but with putting closer to the unit... so putting spot is like 5ft from unit and hitting zone like 8ft from unit. Can anyone tell me if this is a good option or is having the unit aligned in the middle of your hitting zone and putting zone a better more accurate option? I've still got to buy/install all the artificial turf surrounds so can make either work.
3. My enclosure/screen is 3m wide by 2.6m high... I have plenty of room where I'm installing it, so can have 8-10ft from hitting zone to impact screen. Do I need like a top net so I can hit lob wedges etc. without them flying into the ceiling (which is like 2.6m high)? Or do you tend not to hit lob wedges/flop shots when playing using it as a sim?
4. I'm pretty sure I want to get pro pack and maybe impact zone softwares... can anyone speak firsthand to the quality/benefit of these add-ons?
5. I'm looking to run it through an iPad (as I'm an Apple man through and through and not sure I could drive a PC!) do you think this offers enough power to run the sim software? Also you think I like put it on a full height stand so I can change between shot types more easily?
6. I bought an older Optoma GT1080 short throw projector... it's a 7-year old DLT model not the HD model. It's only around 3000 lumens. You think I need to make the sim fairly dark at these lumens? If so, any advice on lighting the hitting zones to get best results from the mevo+?
I think that's it for now... but any advice from anyone who has been through this with the mevo+ much appreciated... or any reference material you found helpful... so far I've found stuff with a lot of contradictions.
Thanks in advnace.
