I left my driver taped and think the results are very good after calibration. Be aware that if you had any offset number for the driver or 3 wood, you may need to set them back to 0.

I chose not to calibrate. Could not get it to work easy so I just hit the course and played a prac round.

In preparation for playing online tournaments yesterday I reset all my clubs to 100% speed and distance.

The trouble with this is I now hit the ball unrealistic distances. So, previously I had my driver set to 82% distance my 3&5 woods at 90%.
Driver in real life goes around 250yards in optishot 290yards hence I have to dial it back to play realistic golf.
I favour realistic golf so this is why I have kept the distances reduced over the last 2 years of ownership, but now with online play involved I am forced to set it back to 100% if I want to be competitive - theres no way I'll be putting for eagle otherwise. I guess this is the same for everyone else too? Otherwise based on the scores being posted we'd all be on tour!
My irons are pretty much accurate except for my 3 and 4 irons which seem to go no further than my 5 iron and usually 160-185 which is very short, previously I corrected this with 110% distance.
Seems such a shame that the woods are so far off out of the box.

I hit my woods farther than in real life as well. Don't know how much is opti and how much is me hitting them harder. Because not being worried about not to be able to find the ball, really makes me swinging much harder than normal.

I'm about 10% longer with all clubs than in real life. Used to use 90% for all clubs but now with the tour i'm on 100 to not lose out. Dont have that 3 4 5 iron problem though... that sounds weird. Sure your shaft lengths and lofts are correct?

All of my irons are pretty much dead on. My driver and 3 wood are close, but probably 10% further (10-15 yards). I have always been a pretty long driver of the ball, just not extremely accurate.

I adjusted my irons and my woods to match my real distance and my flight as much as possible. I use "almostgolf" golfballs which are 1/3 the weight of a real ball which he optishot has no setting for. I can either reduce 10% with the opti "real ball" setting ( which I do) or boost 10% from the "foam ball" setting. I also find that the lighting, the thickness of your turf, how high you tee the ball and whether you tape or don't tape your clubs affects your distances. The great thing about the optishot is you can really fine tune it to match your game pretty well.

On a side note, I tried to calibrate my driver (taped) and 90% of my drives were excactly 12 deg closed ? Has anyone had any luck besides Brad with this new feature ? I was thinking of making a jig of some sort that will keep my club square during the calibration ? Any ideas for the 10deg open and closed jig ?

Cheers and good luck today boys, I will be teeing it up Tonight at 7:30 pm est.

The reason your drives go further in Opti is because it doesn't calculate backspin, which greatly reduces droves in real life. It also tends to read club head speed a tad faster than real life as well. I have my swing speed set at 96% and distance at 97% on my driver online, just because I want it to still be as realistic and close to my real driving distance as possible. Irons for me are pretty close at 100% most of the time.

Maxxx... I actually haven't done the calibration and don't know that I plan on it after hearing some of the results so far. Is there any way to reset it and revert back to the settings before you calibrated it?

Hey Buddy, yes you can cancel and go back to your original setup BUT I still found it a bit off so I had to play with my offset. If you do calibrate, make a copy of your clubsets first incase there is a problem.

                          cheers

Yeah the club and shaft specs are as per Mizuno.
For me I just need to play plenty with the new 100% specs so I get used to the new distances.

Makes sense, I always wondered if the ball was flying further due the higher air pressure in US - sunny vs raining all the time in UK!

I use almostgolf balls as well. I haven't taped my clubs, I'm using an old spare set the irons are pretty good anyway for face angle and I painted the sole of the woods white.
