Mike the game allows you to change the Trajectory, and yes in real life if you adjust your feet to get ball higher in Air to take advantage of the Wind you can... Optishot allows for this.... If this is something we want to police we can look at it, but right now it is part of the Simulator option... But there is no Advantage here because it is an option for all, and this is what we need to keep in mind, when setting standards..

Yeah I believe your club settings whatever they may be (as long as they fit within the guidelines) should be set and then not altered. There shouldn't need to be any reason to alter as they should reflect what you want them to be for you natural swing and real life results.
Trajectory adjustment is something you could do in real life and so again no reason you cant do it in game.
Glad Ive been able to provide some info to help you decide and hopefully people will find a setting thats good for them and reduce the frustrations that many are having.

Oh please. You never adjusted your trajectory until someone mentioned the gain of 15-20 yards even dead in to the wind.Originally posted by CatMan View Post

If you are going to turn this in to a game, it's fine by me, but lets come up with clear cut rules and roll with it, Okay? So we simply don't have to rehash all of this stuff as new people come with new ideas.
As far as the putting, it's like I mentioned, a player who plays on super slow greens in real life will undoubtedly struggle on a simulator. A player who plays on fast greens in real life will only have to make small adjustments. I am fortunate enough to be able to play many private clubs in South Florida so the green speeds on OptiShot are not a big deal to me. I really only struggle with lag putts, but anything in side 15 feet is pretty much a gimmie.
Lets just come up with a solid set of rules then stick them and stop adjusting on the fly. Do that and you wont hear from me anymore on the topic, but as long as ideas keep getting floated around I'll be giving my two cents.Last edited by Buckeye; 12-29-2014, 09:36 PM.

I use trajectory all of the time. My default is set one up from the middle as I naturally hit the ball high. If I find myself behind a tree and have to play a big hook or slice, I lower the trajectory to the bottom and play a "golf shot". I don't simply raise the trajectory to it's highest setting for every shot and swing threw the trees.
But to each his own.
I'm just saying you know you never used the trajectory until it was mentioned there was an advantage and now you raise it to the max every shot. That to me doesn't seem like you are even trying to make this real.
You are the administrator and you have a board of directors. I'm asking please talk amongst yourselves and come up with a solid "rule book" if you will and go with it. I will SUPPORT whatever trajectory, club, tee, weather or course condition settings you guys decide. I really want this to work and have some fun, but we need some consistency with the rules.

You can disagree all you like, but raising your trajectory, even in to the wind, increases your distance by a substantial amount. This was discussed too.Originally posted by CatMan View PostMike we have already had this discussion, it comes down to a question on whether or not to use trajectory? I disagree with you into the wind?? Prove that one

The bottom line is this a low base line simulator that has software to make for a good playing experience... If we want to redo the Software to include trajectory that's going to be huge under taking.. If we want to say we cant use trajectory I feel this is a big mistake... Because we need to take it into account on every shot...

Buckeye quantify slow or fast greens in terms of stimp meter. My real course has the best greens in my local area they were built and are prepared by Troon Golf, they are perceived to be fast by anyone who plays them, I receive an email daily detailing the course conditions of the day and over the xmas break they have been between 9-9.5 on the stimp meter, i might be able to find an old email from summer time to get them at their fastest but i suspect i would be 12-13. Now i find optishot greens WAY faster, miles faster. So what speed are the greens you play? Faster than US Open?
I'm merely looking for playable greens how we achieve that i dont care, either by excluding fast green settings or 80% power, putting should feel like putting.

3.4 mph putter speed for stimpmeter of 12 feet
4.1 mph putter speed for stimpmeter of 10 feet
These values are derived using Geoff Mangum's Putter Zone website.

Optishot green speeds for fast green setting are tremendously faster than stimpmeter readings of the above.
I have felt that the slow green setting on the Optishot reflects a stimpmeter of 9.5 feet from my testing with my putting surface, stimpmeter, Zenio putting launch monitor machine/software, Optishot and Uebelhor milled stainless steel putter.
Please note that the general average stimpmeter reading on PGA tour events is 12.5 feet. Augusta National tries to average around 13 feet.
You will not play many courses with stimpmeter readings above 11 feet, and you would probably think that you were playing greens with stimpmeter readings of 12 feet are actually more likely around 8 to 9 feet. The amateur game is completely different than the conditions that occur on the PGA Tour.Last edited by fhann; 12-29-2014, 10:31 PM.

I adjusted my club settings to real life distances as much as possible including the woods. So my drives are no Pro-drives, because I want to play my real life distances and scores. This includes the putting distances. I also think that the green speeds in OptiShot are too fast.

Bravo! When the time comes, your transition to the ProTee tour will be an easy one.
