    ProTee Online Play Setup Instructions

    ProTee Online Play Setup Instructions

Protee's simple online play setup guide: proteegolfonline.com/index.php/faq

This is my guide for setting up Protee online play.

In order for ProteePlay to join other games or host games, you have to setup your router to forward TCP/UDP ports 60,000 through 60,030 to your simulator computer's internal IP address.

How to find out what your simulator PC's IP address is:
Click on Windows START button, all programs, Accessories folder, then click on "Command Prompt".

At the prompt, type in ipconfig /all
IP address is listed as IPv4 Address.

Then access your router's setup page via your web browser by putting your router's ip address(refer to your router's manual) in the web address bar. i.e. 192.168.2.1 for a Linksys router.

Instructions on how to forward ports for a specific router can be found here:
    portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/

But generally, port forwarding can be found in the Gaming/application section.

For Protee, select the "port range forwarding" section. Name it "Protee" or what ever you lke. Enter 60,000 for the beginning port, then 60,030 for the ending port. Select TCP or TCP/UDP. For the "destination", enter the IP address of the sim computer. You might have to select the "enable" option. Save all changes.

Windows Firewall: You also need to add Protee Protal to the list exceptions or allowed programs. Make sure to put a check mark in the box for "Public" for both programs. Or you can simple disable the firewall before playing online.

Here is what everybody needs to do:

Everybody needs disable mobile connection to your tablets. As this will slow down the game for everybody.

Every player needs to be using the same course friction and green friction settings. We are currently using1.65(course) and 1.00(green).

Each player would then have to adjust their putting speed factor in their Protee interface to match what they feel is the correct speed on their simulator. The other guys found the putting speed factor of 1.2 in the Protee interface to be accurate for their putting. I have mine at 1.

Online play software and Protee Interface updates:

    Teamspeak:
This is what we use to talk to each other while playing online. Go to teamspeak.com/ and download the Teamspeak 3 client program. Watch the video on how to set it up. Teamspeak server address and password are located in the Protee Beta testing section of this forum.

Here is a great tutorial on how to connect to a Teamspeak server.
    tserverhq.com/clients/knowledgebase/99/H...mspeak-3-server.html

Microphones: We have found that Bluetooth mics tend to cause problems. I would recommend everybody use a USB desktop mic with an on/off button. You can also configure Teamspeak to use the keyboard for push-to-talk.

Internet bandwidth efficeincy: To allow Protee the best possible bandwidth, lessen latency, and reduce potential online play problems, we all should enable QOS in our routers.

QOS or quality of service can be found in the "Gaming/application" section or something similar. Please see the manual/instructions for your brand of router on how to enable QOS. Once QOS is enabled, you will be able to issue priorities to a particular application, IP address, or by MAC address.

For example, I have my sim computer(by it's MAC address) set to "High Priority". Every other devices in the house are set to low priority. So, when I'm playing Protee online, Protee will get the most bandwidth while the other devices get throttled back.

    Things not to do:
Please try not to make any changes to your game or the interface during play. Doing so can sometimes cause the game to crash for everybody. If you need to make a change for putting speed factor in the interface, wait until it's your turn to swing to make the change.

Speed up play by playing "ready golf".
    1) After hitting, re-tee / replace your ball for the next shot so you are ready to go.
    2) Watch the distance left that flashes on the screen so you can be ready for the distance for your next shot (keep in mind that it doesn't matter that much, for example, if it selects 6 iron and you hit a 5 or 7 iron, the distance will be close enough.
    3) Don't take more than one practice swing when it's your turn (if working out a kink, do it while others are hitting)
    4) Use the scorecard on ****************** to see what the next hole is. i.e. the next hole is a PAR 3, so tee up for a PAR 3 while you're waiting for your turn to putt.

    More Teamspeak stuff:
Please have one person create a channel for your match or use one of my predefined channels(Protee1, Protee2). Everybody that is playing in that match can then drag and drop themselves into that channel. We need to get away from using the default channel. The default channel is where everybody shows up when they first connect to Teamspeak. When creating a channel, please set the limit on the number of users. i.e. you have a 3 some skins match, you would set the user limit to 3. This will block other users from entering the channel while the game is in progress.

It's not a big problem now but will be in the future. For example, your match is in progress and is using the default channel. You're in the middle of your backswing and you hear, "A user has entered your channel". Not good.

To create a channel, just right anywhere in the left box then select "create channel".

    Tournament scoring:
We currently use ****************** to enter our scores online after each hole. I recommend you use a tablet/smartphone to enter your scores while playing so there won't be any chance of crashing the online game. You can also use a separate computer or laptop.
