Network Mode Using iPhone 6+ Hotspot

Anyone have any success in using an iPhone 6+ Hotspot for the Network Mode connection at the driving range, away from home, to successfully sync using Network Mode away from home, since Direct Mode is broken?

After repeated testing trying to use the iPhone 6+ HotSpot for Network Mode Wifi, here is where it fails for me every time.
The iPad is not "automatically" reconnecting to the iPhone 6+ Hotspot "network" after authorizing the SkyTrak to use the iPhone network connection through the iPad connected to the SkyTrak directly initially.
The iPad stays in the direct WiFi connection to the SkyTrak, while the yellow light in position two blinks.
As soon as I go into Settings on the iPad and manually change the iPad connection to the iPhone 6+ Hotspot, the connection to the SkyTrak is immediately broken, and the SkyTrak reverts back to two red lights on top.
(The iPad should instead automatically re-connect to the network and all lights should go green. If the iPad doesn’t connect, one is just supposed go to settings and choose the network again.)
