  • About Golf Simulator

Here is a great link on the thought process of About Golf simulator. Really radar vs cameras.

I hit on an About Golf sim usually once every few weeks. Just recently hitting on one and had so many mis hits. Launch angles way too high, crazy hooks etc. Hit several drives 380 + yards. I think that sim needs a tune up!!!!!!!! Way too much money to have those kind of hiccups. The workers were very embarrassed with its performance.

This was with those strange marked balls? That is crazy. What did they charge you to play there?

Free. Its a golf shop and I know the owners and drop by to practice. They have 3 About Golf units. Yes with the marked balls. My sim was way more accurate this day!!!!

Cameras out of alignment or out of focus maybe. Did you try the other units?

Yes and they were better. What was frustrating was that certain shots did not read. The green light was on, hit the ball and NOTHING!! This happened on all the units. Not a lot,but often enough that it bugged me.

The PGA Superstore(2 years old) near me has a bunch these systems. I do see strange shots and shots that were missed completely.

In fact, I've seen misreads on the Michael Breed show too!

As we know Z, nothing is perfect. Don't get me wrong, they are nice systems. But for that type of money there should be zero issues. They probably need to be tweaked. The problem is that a remote install is not cheap!!!!! Especially past warranty!

I wonder if they user is allowed to do any kind of tweaking.

Also, It must be tough to turn a profit when you're using 3 of these systems. And worst when they don't work right.

Which is why, IMHO it's a bad choice for a home system unless you have more money than you know what to do with it
