    New Build Questions / Ideas?

Hi Everybody, I recently bought a house with 9' ceilings in the basement. I have an area set aside for a golf sim but the dimensions are a little bit tight. There are two main issues with the space. Max width for the screen is 12', primarily because there are support poles in the middle of the room blocking me from going wider. I am right handed, so the pole on the left side would be the issue because it is about 10' from where the screen will be. The only thing I can come up with is an offset hitting area. I can play around with moving closer or farther from the screen, but that pole is in a really bad spot and will always be in danger of getting in the way of either the backswing or follow through.

The other main issue is that on the right side of this hitting area is an AC duct that runs all the way from the screen to the back of the room (by the couch in my drawing). The height from the floor to that duct is 8', which is going to limit my screen height to 8'. Since it is tucked away on the right side (and I swing righty), it won't get in the way of my swing, but it will be in danger of being hit by balls.

My thoughts are to have a screen that is a little under 8' and have a net stretched across the ceiling just under the duct. My question is, with a screen of that height, how close can my hitting area be to the screen and how far in front of the hitting area should the ceiling net start? Since the ceiling net is going to be pretty low, I would think it would have to be far enough away so that it doesn't interfere with my follow through. I'm probably not going to be hitting flop shots, but I do want to try to protect from the inevitable popup and definitely from full lob wedge shots. I have attached a couple of photos of the layout and dimensions. Any ideas or input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
