Is Carls standard impact screen adequate for a 105-110 driver ss if I intend to use for practice only - no simulation play? I currently have my Skytrak connected to a tv but I may add a projector down the road. I don’t have to have a 1080 or 4K picture. I just want something will be more durable than my current sheet/net combo. Thanks!

I use the standard screen from Carl's. I've used it for the past few years. Still working great. I use a non HD projector and it works well. I imagine that any higher definition projector would not look much better due to the texture of the screen. I've been happy with it.Originally posted by richerod View PostDid u go with Carl's Standard? Debating whether to go with standard or pay more for an upgrade.

Depends on how much you hit. If it's going to get heavy use, I'd recommend investing in the premium. I had the preferred and put a hole in it after about seven months (~300 balls a day). The premium is night and day better since it's multi-layered. Here's a tip... whatever you get, don't hit the same iron too many times in a row. Good luck.

I have the standard screen and like it for the price point. I got the raw material about a foot and a half wider than I need. It's held back with tarp clips and my plan is to slide the screen over if I do get a hole in it to help extend the life. At this point, I've had no issues but it's only been a couple of months with heavy use.

richerod Yeah, I’m totally satisfied with the picture quality. My projector is only 720 so I didn’t see a need to spend a ton on the screen. It all really depends what you’re going for. If you’re going for a multipurpose TV/golf sim room and using a high end projector then yeah, spend the extra money on a higher end screen and you’ll appreciate it. My sim is built in a detached garage for golf only on top of a skateboard miniramp because I’m a 39 year old teenager, so the overall appearance isn’t a big deal to me as long as I’m not taking shortcuts on function (within reason or else I would hav got a GC2 vs SkyTrak). If I was building a sim inside of my home. I’m sure I’d take a more expensive approach for overall looks and convenience. It depends what you find value in and where to draw the line. At the end of the day, this gets the job done. I spent $42 on 2x4’s and $15 on hooks and tarp clips and it totally works for what I need.
