    4:3 or 16:10 image size

First time setting up a projector screen for simulator. My screen is 10 ft wide x 9 ft height. Trying to decide between 2 projectors given where I can mount is limited by my space. My two options are 4:3 (1024x768) floor mounted or 16:10 (1920 x 1200) directly behind golfer.

Is the extra resolution of worth the 1.25 ft less vertical height (7.5 image height vs 6.25) or will is 720p good enough? What would you guys pick?

    thanks for your input

I would go 16:10 all day every day if those were the only options. Massive difference between 1920x1200 and 1024x768.

However, what's stopping you from projecting a better 4:3 resolution than 1024x768? You can project 1440x1080 in 4:3. Or better yet, use that 16:10 projector to run 1600x1200.

(I'm assuming you're talking about playing sim courses here. If you're only talking about strictly practicing then just go with the bigger image size as graphics aren't as crucial for just a driving range)

I had my mindset on a laser projector so I wouldn’t have to replace lamps but that’s really limiting my options. I’ll have to reconsider

Given your dimensions I would go 4:3 all day.

I am not 100% on this, but most sim software does not have 16:10 resolutions only 16:9. So you are really only going to have 5.625 ft of image height anyways.

Also just a FYI any 16:9 or 16:10 projector can project 4:3 it just blacks out the sides. This is all done in the software. No need to shop for a special 4:3 projector.

What's the throw distance for that 1920x1200 projector when you switch it to 4:3?
