For Sale: GC2 Scammer member, "atechoutlet" ***Please be careful***

Hi Guys:

I posted a need for a used GC2 yesterday on our classifed forum and I recieved a PM from a member claiming to have a used unit he was willing to sell. Right before I was ready to pull the trigger and ask him for a pic with today's date on it, I noticed the pics looked familiar and sure enough the were the same pics from a UK ad on ebay. I have attached his id on our forum and would request that this guy be removed. I have also attached his discussion thread showing him tying to sell someone else's unit.

Boy the lesson here is make sure they take a picture of the unit with today's date and also maybe request a video of the unit in action...

This UK member has identified his pics as authentic so if you would please post a pic of the GC2 along with your drivers license that would be great.

There’s no point sending pics along with drivers license. That’s private, so it doesn’t get into the wrong hands.

The admin can ban me. It takes so many good deeds to build up reputation but only one bad one to loose all.

You aren't a scammer? You don't need to put your drivers licence. Just post a pic of your GC2 with a piece of paper with "atechoutlet 26th May 2020"
I would also question why you would use someone elses pics?

Maybe he has a golf shop or something? He messaged me that he has a TruEStrike mat for sale also. Maybe a scam I was weary as well.

Yea I’m seeing now that the truestrike mat photo he sent me is from worthpoint website and eBay with same terminology. It sounded like a scam to me too. When I said I didn’t want that model he said he has others. Mods should take a look

Not saying that this is what's going on here as I have no idea and don't claim to.

There are people who find things for sale on eBay (and other online stores) and advertise themselves as selling those products at a slightly higher price. When you agree to purchase it, they will quickly buy it from the eBay seller at the listing price and then have it shipped to you (or receive it themselves and then quickly ship it onto you). So they are basically just flipping merchandise by buying it from one person and then selling it at a higher price without ever having to store any inventory. Sort of like a less ethical version of drop shipping. One of the signs of this happening is when the photos match up to an eBay listing (or some other online listing). This happened to me once with a projector that I bought a while back. I eventually got the projector (after a lot of lame excuses from the guy about shipping delays because he was out of the country and this and that, which was really just his way of buying some time while he waited for the projector to get shipped to him first). He ended up later confessing that it wasn't his projector to begin with.

Another possibility ... some people will not use photos of their own merchandise (out of laziness or whatever) and will instead just do a Google image search for the product and pull one from there. And sometimes the images that get pulled are the eBay photos of someone else's product. Again, not the most ethical thing in the world because a buyer deserves to see the actual product they will be buying (especially when it's something expensive like a launch monitor).

Again, I have no idea if either of these scenarios are at play here. Just sharing two situations that often play out in the world of the internet economy.

Thanks for everyone weighing in. In any world there is no excuse for falsely advertising with someone else’s pics.Admin is correct if he cannot produce a pic with a current date then we have the answer..,

I liked the OP's original post as soon as I spotted his posting and new that this was going to be a very interesting thread. Fortunately the right action has now been taken and fingers crossed we don't see more of this going forward.
