  • SkyTrack Full Metal Jacket case - beta version available

I've made a case for my SkyTrack that I'm happy with - some of you have asked about buying one.

My kids want to commercialize it (12 and 15 year-olds - that watch too much Shark Tank) but for now I'm happy just to get some out to the indoor hackers that could use one.

I've put an item on ebay at $95 that covers the cost of making a batch of them (It also includes USPS shipping in the USA only.)

Included levelers adjust about 2 inches above the floor - if you want more, you can get regular 3-1/8-16 bolts.

I will make them and ship before January 15th.

    FMJ Beta case for ST

Would rather not deal with international shipments - but reply below if that's a real hardship.

I just ask that you use it, and offer some feedback on the thread at:

Happy Holidays - keep it in the short grass.

    UPDATE

Burning V4 tomorrow Jan 5 - will post photos - should be the one.

Also burning a plate only that will fit on top of an existing Skytrak "protective" case and add more protection to the lens area. Or, be a good add-on to a DIY case.

FMM = Full Metal Mask - might have to make a Gerry Cheevers version.

Put you name on this list if you would like to be included in the next batch.

I have followed this for a little bit and obviously I thoroughly support innovation and kudos to you for this product. I'm wondering if some type of cushion material could be added to the front to soften the ricochet. I fully expected your product to protect the hardware, but my concern is why a shank hitting the case at full speed and coming back and hitting a golfer.

Interesting thought. Of course at some point this would all make a great High School statistics problem. Start combining the probabilities of hitting the SkyTrak with the probabilities of damage to the unit and the probabilities of a ricochet coming back at the golfer, etc...the padding could actually improve the odds of shock damage to the unit. Also, there's the opportunity for someone to make customized padded covers in NFL, college and pro teams of all sports. interesting...

What are the changes in the V4 case vs. the V3 case? Was anything changed with the camera windows or was it only shifting the mounting screw?

I have the V3 case and finally got around to using it the last few days and it's built really well. I did have the same issues as others with some misreads due to the shifted mounting and am going to try and make the center hole larger to center the unit. Was just wondering if anything else changed to optimize this version. Thanks!

              Just -
changed the screw slots to holes and put them in the centered location.
Deleted the two outer screw holes.
Widened the LED window a bit - just 'cause I wanted to see it from the back.
No change to the grill or overall dimensions.
              Firmware patch..just kidding.

so yeah, if you just open the hole and center the unit with 1/16-1/8 spacing you'll be golden and "rev'd up"...have fun!

Modified mine today. adjusted the holes slightly and tested. Works great. Never missed or miss read a shot. I have not hit any into the FMJ and won't be doing that on purpose, but very happy with the case. Very well made. I will be drilling some holes in the back where the lights are so I can see them from behind. I really do feel much better with having that case protecting my ST. Thank you for doing this.

Ours seems to be working great with no mods. Curious, what modifications did you make to the holes on yours?
