First time poster here so please excuse any posting rules I may inadvertently break. This thread seemed like the best place to ask my question.

I am new to the sim game and bought a Skytrak in early December for my backyard setup (under a big shaded tree so sunlight is not an issue, hit into a net off a 3x5 mat, and use my iPad). I also have enough space required for Mevo+. My main priority is game improvement on the range as opposed to playing full on sim golf. I have been very pleased with Skytrak save a few setup limitations (my wife and neighbor are lefties so switching is for them is annoying).

I have a 60 day free return period for my Skytrak that is ending next week. With the launch of Mevo+, the million dollar question becomes do I return Skytrak and get Mevo+ instead?

Interested to hear your opinions. If we think they are comparable in terms of accuracy then my only real question is how the user interface on the Mevo+ compares to Skytrak. Seems like the Flightscope app (baring an impressive fs skills app) is not as good of an experience as the Skytrak range and game improvement software. However the e6 ranges look impressive. From what I can discern it seems like Mevo+ may have more upside in the future especially if they unlock more of the data parameters. For that reason I think I am leaning towards Mevo+, but want to make sure I’m not missing anything major to take into consideration. So if you were in my shoes, what would you choose? Thanks for responses in advance.

I second what Gresh12 said. If you can get most of your money back on the SkyTrak, I'd do it. It's definitely not a bad time to be without a launch monitor waiting for the next shoe to drop.

I have a similar set up to yours. I'm setup in my backyard shaded under trees, hitting off of a mat, and with an iPad. I bought my SkyTrak last April and have really enjoyed it and its helped my swing greatly. I don't really play sim golf, I bought it more as a training device. I hit shots from driver down to 20 yard pitches but no putting or short chips.

That said I purchased a Mevo+ at the PGA show because I wanted greater ease of use (not such a meticulous setup) and club data. I've hit a few hundred shots with the Mevo+ in both short indoor and outdoor mode. So far the Mevo+ has impressed me with its accuracy in short indoor mode with 12' of ball flight. My spin numbers have been within a few hundred of SkyTrak and the spin axis has been agreeable. As far as HLA I have found my SkyTrak to not be very reliable as I hit into a target with a straight line down the middle and its easy to tell if it launched to the left or right, but the Mevo+ is spot on. It may be that the Mevo+ is easier to align with my target due to its camera and the SkyTrak is more of a guess. I also took the Mevo+ on the golf course last week and it impressed outside with accuracy and ease of setup.

As far as interface Flightscope's range is less visually appealing than SkyTrak's but their flight algorithm seems way more accurate. No more grossly over exaggerated hooks or slices. Flightscope's website even has a shot optimizer were you can input your numbers from SkyTrak and see how each one interprets the flight. Flightscope must account for spin decay were SkyTrak doesn't. Also no shot delay. The E6 range is really nice too for greater visual appeal and it has worked really well on my iPad.

Long story short I sold my SkyTrak on eBay this morning and for anyone considering currently there is still a strong used market for SkyTraks.

Aj282 thanks for the input. Super helpful especially with our similar setups. Mevo+ it is. As far as I know I can still return my skytrak for a full refund. Not sure about the wgt and game improvement package I bought along with it but losing a couple hundred in the grand scheme of things is worth it. Especially since the e6 software comes free with Mevo+. Thanks again!

I think that’s the way I am going to go. Thanks for the input!
