I think it's specifically florescent lighting that causes issues for radar units

      So LEDs are cool?

Fluorescent lights are supposed to cause interference.

So ive got a mini fridge (need beer in the garage, obvi) about 2ft in front of and 2.5ft to the right of my hitting area (lets say the Tee). I havent noticed anything too whacky, but should I be concerned about the quality of data im getting? Also, right behind that minifridge and above it, I have a wall mounted TV. Should I be worried about this as well as another source of interference for the MEVO+? I attach picture for reference. Mini fridge is the little black one with silver lever style handle. I suppose the only time I should have a concern with the fridge is when the compressor kicks on, but IDK.

Not sure about the quality of data, but you should be concerned about the quality of beer and switching to a large fridge as a mini never holds enough beer for a foursome. 🤪

Generally speaking, the concerns with radar indoors fall into two categories: interference (e.g. signals from electronic devices), and reflections (mostly from metal surfaces).

Reflections can be minimized by absorption, deflection (reflecting the microwaves away from the launch monitor) or diffraction (see my previous comment). I don't profess to be an expert on interference from electronics, but surrounding devices with metal mesh (basically putting them inside a Faraday Cage) would be a good place to start.

Resurrecting this post to try and understand the numerical noise value people were seeing when using a radar in their set up.

In order to get a noise value I was using the Flightscope Interference App (that has been posted in another thread - https://golfsimulatorforum.com/forum...detection-tool)

I had been using my Xi-Tour outside (8 feet radar to ball and 9 feet ball to impact screen).

I then had a TESLA Powerwall installed (which was the direction I hit towards). I am now getting a number of issues with reads and suspected the culprit being the recently installed battery. The interference is in the "red" category, 62 to 75 (unsure on numerical units). Unfortunately I do not have a reading prior to installation (which would have provided a nice base line).

With that being said this interference value does not change even if I reverse the hitting direction (again in the 65 to 75 range. I have no baseline prior to battery installation so changing the hitting direction and therefore Xi Tour position. As such electromagnetic interference (EMI) from the battery or from the nails in the cladding could still be affecting the radar.

Just trying to understand how much interference people are seeing in their environment?

It's likely the battery charger, especially if you're hitting towards it.

When i run my app its a solid green line and when i hit the ball the graph spikes and the graph is still green.
I guess you have a lot of interference.
are you just running the app without hitting a ball?

boungolf I was just trying to take a background reading without any hitting the ball.

the background reading was red, ranging from 65 to 75. It would seem that my environment is fairly interference heavy for radar golf.

Instead of guessing what the problem is why don't you try shutting of all the things being powered in your hitting area one at a time. Most any power supply these days is a switcher which generate wide spectrum transients. Another likely source is any florescent light fixture since they are really just ionizing the gas within the tube which also generates wide spectrum noise.

I don't know what frequency a Mevo + uses but I can tell you that every time I pass by a local driving range and their instructor is giving a lesson using a radar LM, either a Trackman or a Flightscope it sets off the radar detector in my car in the X band which is around 10GHZ.

            24gHz, if I remember correctly.

The dual radar units have 10gHz as well.

Reviving this as I’m tinkering with the Interference app to see if I can get the M+ dialed in. See attached.

My report when not moving or hitting is little blips and spikes up to 40 but the avg noise value stays always 0.

when the projector is on I see the blips more consistently (that’s the attached report image 2):

Is it worth trying to get a flat line or are these occasional blips and spikes but staying green normal and not worth trying to solve in your experience?

          Thx 🙏

Unless you are having issues I would say it's fairly standard and should not interfere with your experience. My X3 has a lot of average noise but I do not have any issues.

If you have identified the projector as possible interference just wrap it with wire mesh and see if you can get a measurable change.

Thx. I’m pretty happy with the results so may just leave it.

Here is the latest app (I believe)
