  • Sim software options for X2

    Hi Guys,

Can you advise what lost cost simulator software options are available for use with an X2 ? I have been using the driving range and skills apps, which up until now has been really good, and all I have needed. But with the lockdown in place so no actual golf available, I was looking to see if I can easily and cheaply setup something that was a bit more like playing an actual round. I am not that fussed for specific courses, and I'm not looking for any competition or online play, just "simple" offline software that perhaps has a couple of courses available.

The e6 software at £2k+ is way too expensive for what I need, as is TGC one off fee (I'm not even sure if TGC works with the X2). I guess I'm wondering if there are older versions that are compatible and might be available cheaply, or perhaps a demo version that doesn't expire, or something else like that? I'm really just looking for something that can tide me over for the next few months until all the restrictions are lifted.

    Thanks

So to answer my own question, the E6 Connect demo is not time limited. It comes with one course for the demo, I tried it briefly today, and is not unsurprisingly, really good. I can see myself playing this a fair bIt and then if the lock down lasts for a while, I may endup paying for a license to get the full version for the course variety. I guess that's the whole point of them producing a proper demo, a good product sells itself...

I was wondering the same question and have seen that TGC2019 is asking for beta testers on the XI line. It already works with the x3 line, so I am hoping that when/if that is released for the xi line, the x2 and x2 elite will be included with that as well. Don't know for sure, but hopefully!!!

So I contacted Protee to ask about support for the X2 and they were happy to sell me a license for use with the X2. Although they said it had hardware limitations with chipping and putting (Xi and Xi tour also have the same limitations).

That is great to hear!!!! Did they have pricing for it? I knew it would be limited just due to the fact of no putting and very short on the x2, but the course selection is insane vs e6. Let me know how you like it

Price is as per normal online price. To be honest, at the moment, I'm not going to buy it. They don't offer a demo, and specifically said that no refund would be possible. I'm not sure how enforceable that is in the uk; if it doesn't work there is sales of goods act and distance buying legislation that protects the consumer. Even still, I don't think I will take a punt, at around £800 it is just too much of a risk.

Can you guys get online play with the x2 Elite? My FS connects to my PC through WiFi and I don't know how to connect to the Flightscope and the internet at the same time.

If you download an app called speedify and purchase a $5 wifi usb dongle, then you can have two wifi connections on one computer. It works really well when you need to connect to a device(like the x2) but also ned to connect to the internet

So I did a ton of research on this when I got my x2. Right now I am using e6 connect as its the easiest for my set up, but you only have to get the yearly subscription for it and don't have to outright buy the lifetime courses, so 300 for the year. The customer service was awesome too if you call. TGC2019 does work with x2, but have to turn off the putting and set it to autoputt or computer or player decides. After the new year I am going to try Awesome golf too, they say it works great with the x2 and has a 14 day free trial as well before buying. I can let you know how well it works.
