  • Flightscope X2 misreads on short indoor mode - please help!

    Hi all,

I'm working on a hitting area in my backyard for my Flightscope X2 and was hoping to get some feedback from the experts. Attached are a couple pictures of my current setup. I currently just use an ipad running the VX ap.

I'm having issues with strange spin axis misreads (45 degrees left or right) and strange angle of attack and low point numbers occasionally as well. See attachment. This is more likely to occur with higher club and ball speeds (see attached driver data from yesterday) but can also happen with irons sometimes.

    Current parameters:
    • Unit is working flawlessly outdoors on outdoor mode. Issues only seem to be occuring on indoor or short indoor mode in backyard into net
    • Metal dots on all balls
    • 8-9 feet from mat to net
    • 8-9 feet from mat to Flightscope
    A couple thoughts:
    • Could the metal shed behind the net be causing interference? If so, what would be the best backing to put on the net (or could I even paint the metal?) that could help avoid this?
    • Should I just try to orient my entire setup away from the shed and possibly toward the shrubs in the back?
    • Could this be coming from the Flightscope unit behind a few inches above the hitting area? (There is a small rise in the ground from the tee to X2)
    • Any chance the overhanging shrub limbs to the right could be causing interference?

I want to landscape the area and find a more permanent home for this setup, so any suggestions as what to do from here would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and hope everyone is staying safe and sane.

    Matt

Some of the spin measurements also look really high, 5504, 6842 and 9736!

For the height, I am not sure how much tolerance there is, but the instructions are very clear to show that the X2 should be at the same level as the ball. So if it is higher, see if you can raise your mat a little, and then hit some balls for testing. That is probably the easiest test/change. If it makes no difference, then try reversing the setup, so you are hitting away form the shed, just for testing, to see if the shed is making that difference or not. Because of your dip/slope, you'll probably have to elevate the X2 as it will be lower than the ball if you reverse the layout.
