Mevo+ space parameters plus garage door query

    Hi,

I’m looking to invest in a mevo+ but I’m looking for some initial feedback.

firstly I have just about optimal space with 15ft maybe pushing 16ft at a stretch but can anyone test the distance tolerances ball to mevo and ball to screen please. I’m just wondering how close you can get before the shots start misbehaving or drop off.

secondly. I tried to watch the webinar they have but the guy responding can’t be heard. Has anyone had an issue with an impact screen in front of a garage door at all? It was one of the questions but as I said , you can’t here the response.

    thanks

Your second question was mentioned on a post just yesterday. Something about screen mesh I believe is what they said. The first question has also been tested and commented on. I honestly am not sure if you have the space and think you would be pushing things a bit for radar. I had thought 16 feet was he noted min and stretching to that number sounds problematic.

Jigger Ive got a mevo+ on order and have everything being set up to hit into garage door. Like Dax said I realized this could be an issue AFTER I’ve ordered everything lol but someone did mention yesterday that a mesh screen can help if there’s issues and I read on another thread I think a guy had a diff flight scope model and the mesh screen worked for him. Anyways I will he giving it a test run once it all is delivered and while that will be what seems like FOREVER from now I will definitely get back and post my results up for everyone!

Thanks that would be really appreciated if you can report back when you find out.

I was the one who asked the question on the webinar. I emailed the flighscope support for the link of the mesh from Home Depot and I’ll post here when I get the reply.

Thanks. I suspect I’ll be ok then as I have a curtain behind my screen to lessen impact wear. When I say at a stretch, I have a SkyTrak at the moment and I mean I would need to move my screen out a bit in my garage. I just really like the option of no annual fees and camera feedback when using on a range.

Thanks. I for one would be interested how it goes. Do you know when it’s due?

I just ordered the other day man so I’m sure it’ll be awhile. The website said 8 weeks at the time now says 8-10. Hopefully they get their stuff cranked back up and it’s sooner rather than later. Got the sportscreen and most everything else on order to start building everything out in the meantime though!

Jigger TxBriley My Mevo+ is set to return to me by Friday next week. If someone has not tested your limits, then let me know and I will test for you. I can put mine at any distance you need. The only thing I can’t do is hit towards the garage door as mine is behind the Mevo+ and my screen is permanent.

I’d really appreciate that thanks. Ideally I’ve 15’ of distance but can move my screen back to the recommended distance of 16’. I’ve a few tests if your setup allows.

Clubs: hybrid/long iron, mid iron, short iron, driver, putter
Benchmark test: mevo to ball 8‘ & 9’. Ball to screen 10’ plus. Compare this to 8’ either side (putting 8’ & 9’ to screen and 7’to mevo)
          15’ tests: 7’ & 8’ from the screen (putting 8’ & 9’)
          16’ tests: 8’ & 9’ from screen (putting 9’ & 10’)

The reason putting is different is I’ve found info which suggests optimal iron in short studio session is 8’ from the mevo for full shots and 7’ for putting.

          Thanks so much.

I know, if you guys pitch in for a new garage door, I will hang a curtain in front of the door and hit at it!!! Lol. 😎
It’s possible I might be able to hit at the garage door. I have a spare raw impact screen that I might be able to hang in front of the garage door without much problem. (I have been meaning to pull it out and check that moths or something have not eaten it). I need my M+ to show up on Friday first.
I will do all the other distance tests you have requested. I will try and put it on a spreadsheet for easier viewing.

Sorry guys, mine did not get delivered on Friday. It’s close to me, but I don’t have an updated UPS deliver date but probably Monday or Tuesday. Funny thing is, sitting in my chair looking out at the ocean, I can almost see the city its in yet its going to take 5 days from there to get to me!! In the scheme of things it unimportant considering what’s going on, but just shows what we take for granted. I will do your test when I get it.

I'm also interested in whether the doors affect the efficacy of the unit.

Also, what about bare concrete foundation? The bottom 26" of my garage walls are exposed and I'd prefer to keep it 10' to net/screen and 8' to unit, but I might not have quite enough room after having the 12" gap for the unit and accounting for the movement of the net/screen. (19.5' room depth)

The guy who ask the question on the webcast said they got back to him and told him to my a mesh for the door. That suggests concerns about signal bounce back which hopefully wouldn’t be an issue with my impact screen as it’s backed with a rubber backed curtain to reduce wear on the screen.

Thanks. Still not sure if I'm going towards the door or width-wise, since they're the same distance. I just don't want to be hitting towards the back (away from door) because the access to the house is there and I don't want any chance of a rogue ball from my kids or a guest defeating/avoiding the side barriers and ending up hitting someone wandering in.

Jigger I got mine back and was able to do some tests, but they were more related to the issues that I had before I sent it back to FS. I did do some hitting at 10ft to screen with 7ft tee to M+ and ran into some issues. Had bunch of incomplete reads and bunch of no reads. Also ran into a problem with driver VLA reading only 20 degrees. I moved it to 13ft flight and 8ft to tee and had very good results. I was informed to try one thing at the short indoor setting which I will try tomorrow.

Thanks for following up guys. I'm in the process of building out the sim room in the interim. Once I get it (hopefully late May) I'll give it a go. If it doesn't work out, I'll either keep it for range work or sell it here. I'm pretty sure I'm going to get a Uneekor as space won't be an issue.

Jigger TxBriley I have not been able to do a in depth test as you requested as I’m having some issues with my M+. It’s just related to longer clubs like driver. Don’t want to get into that yet.
What I can tell you is that I did some testing with irons from 8ft and 7ft to screen and found that it picked them all up. Numbers seemed decent and within what I was seeing from 10ft and 13ft. M+ to tee was 8ft and 9ft.
I did try my hybrid and it certainly picked the shots up, but I’m having issues with longer clubs at any distance so again, I’m not going to comment on accuracy. I also found that it was hard to swing being that close to the screen, so that also played into it. I’m just not used to that and it was hard to release the club.
I tried chipping on E6 and it was just fine.
I tried putting, and it certainly pick up most putts but was inconsistent, but you need to remember that until the putting update happens it will be iffy at any distance. I also had a drop off on my turf at 5ft because I was hitting from 13 ft also so I had moved my 12ft turf away from the screen to get my 13ft. I will tomorrow try putting with a full distance of turf to screen.
I will say that I was very impressed that it would produce the data it did at 7 ft. That’s not a lot of time to measure.
TX— I just have not had time to hang my other screen in front of the garage door. I will still try if I can.

Thanks for helping us out though man! It sucks waiting so long for this I’ve got just about everything besides my turf to build my floor out and haven’t decided on side curtains yet. Now just waiting on the mevo!

I am doing a build as well and FS support sent me this. I do hear that metal can throw readings off so I would cover as much up as possible. Remember M+ needs that metallic dot to pick up spin so its very sensitive to any metal surfaces I imagine. My build is in my house and all i have to worry about is ceiling fan causing bad reads. Anyone know of ceiling fans causing issues?

I think it would depend on ceiling height and where the fan is located. Easy test would to be try with it on and off and see the impact that it might have. If it interferes, then I guess you will need to play with it off.
