  • Don't Fry your Mevo+ Tips...

Scott Hogan has some good tips to avoid frying your Mevo+:

Hate to wait 4 months on backorder, only to fry it a few days later Perhaps newer models will have some additional safety components in place.

Related to the supported extension power cables, Flightscope recommended this one: https://www.amazon.com/Raspberry-Pow.../dp/B0719SX3GC

Although the cable above is still only 3 feet long, so the battery pack approach suggest in the video is probably a good way to go.

Still a good backup plan to have that charger in case I missplace the included cable. Thanks for posting!

I don't see why plugging it into a #12AWG or larger extension cord should be a problem. If it is, the engineers at FS need to design a power system that's less of a princess because that's a bit ridiculous.

Right? I don’t fully understand the caution with a surge protector either. I can understand the cable and charging block being annoyingly finicky but the other parts are a little silly.

Agree - that’s why I thought to post, who would guess that could be an issue! Where I was planning to plug-in has a surge protector, so glad I knew about this beforehand

What I'm curious about is how it handles a household surge protector. I'm an electrician and my entire house is protected by one before the panel, so it's impossible for me to remove it without contacting the utility. Legally, anyways.

Flightscope really needs to correct this major fault in the units that are currently in the process of being built. After that they should recall the earlier ones and send out new units that have been redesigned. They could shorten the time people are without a unit by shipping out the new ones upon receipt of a shipping number or something along these lines. I realize this is easier said then done and with the state of the world as it is today the process would take several months but I think Flightscope would be better off in the long run.
