Hi Guys, new to the forum and am deciding between a Mevo Plus or the significantly more expensive GC2. I really want to work on my driver and my longer clubs and I was beyond excited that Mevo Plus could give me enough of what I need w/o paying 3 times more on a GC2. The one thing that is a show stopper for me on the Mevo Plus is that the reviewers commonly have issues reading the correct spin axis on drivers, fairway woods or generally lower lofted clubs. The spin axis that I'm specifically referring too is a shot shape that has hook or draw spin. It seemed like every reviewer was fine w/ the Spin Axis readings on Fade/Slice Shapes. Also my observations on the reviews all had the commonality of being used indoor or under the Flightscope prescribed minimum length (basically not on open conditions like a driving range where the doppler has more room to operate). I just wanted to know if anyone has hit those nasty toe hook shots and the Mevo Plus gave you a decent magnitude of the miss.

Mevo + Spin Axis fixed?

I am a scratch golfer and know my game decently, I am also new to SIM world. Mevo + has been really good for me. I had some issues in the beginning and I realized setup is really the key to Mevo +. once I got my setup right the thing reads fine. I currently use the indoor short mode, 7 ft from ball to monitor and 9 feet ball to screen. My mat is perfectly flat from monitor to the screen with no edges. I think having a flush level mat the entire length of sim is key to this reading accurately. I do think it reads a little low on spin the faster the ball speed. I think if I had more room ball to screen the accuracy would be spot on. Since it reads low spin the ball carries a little further than I actually carry it but its only with my mid to long irons. short irons and wedges are spot on. Spin could be my mat as i am picking the ball more with longer irons. Shot shape and spin axis has been fine since i got set up right for my machine. Again spin reads a little low so shot shape is slightly straighter in my opinion that what im actually doing. One weird thing is the driver seems to spin a little more than and carries slightly shorter than I hit it on actual course. Maybe it has something to do with ball being teed up vs being on mat. I have come to realize the Mevo is very sensitive to where you hit from so you need to be consistent. I have very few misreads, if i play 18 holes I may see one or so with a driver thats reads wrong and that could be because I am currently 8 to 9 feet from screen and I need more like 11 to 12 ft. Mevo+ seems to read my mishits very well too. Weakness in my opinion is the pitch shots 5 to 15 yards and putting but I did not buy it to work on that part of my game. It can be frustrating in sim play sometimes when you pitch it and it lands just barely in net and ball goes 12 yards. My net is only 3 yards away. Again, nothing is perfect but this is great for the money in my opinion. I have not used GC2 but read that its pretty good. In my opinion i would not spend extra on it after seeing comparisons on youtube and now using the Mevo +. I do think GC2 is more forgiving on your set up since it sits next to ball and is not radar. The QED Uneekor is the one that seems worth the extra money since it provides more data and reads club and ball data separately. Uneekor also provides some video of impact that validates the data that it provides. Hope this helps.

Interesting. I find the same thing. Irons a bit long. Driver a tad short but I’m getting erratic HLA with longer clubs. Driver is the worst. 7 deg to 28.3. It just can’t seem to read VLA with the driver well.

whats your setup distances now from monitor to ball and ball to screen? How much offset left or right are you on alignment line of mevo+?

My setup varies right now as I have been testing from different setups. Normally It’s 7 or 8 ft M+ to ball. 10ft 8 inches ball to screen. I was testing today at 12ft ball to screen and 7 ft M+ to tee. I am offset 1’2” from the center of my impact screen. I align the M+ exactly down the line from ball to the center line in E6 driving range. I have tried offsetting alignment of M+ but then it just gives a HLA that is wrong. Testing today, I got anywhere from 7 to 28.3 VLA with driver. Irons all were fine. E6 @ 12.6 deg. One thing I found today was that I used the FS app and my iPhone to align the unit. Disconnected and connected to my laptop to use E6 driving range. I checked the alignment in E6 settings and it was not anywhere near the alignment that the FS app required. I used the alignment from the FS app and HLA seemed fine. Went into the E6 settings and aligned to what it wanted and hit. What I got was a slight left HLA when hitting the target on the screen. The E6 setup looked aligned more to the right which would give you that.

Thank you wormburner! Your background, thoughts and opinion is really solid on the Mevo +. Since you're scratch your ball striking & ball flight are way more consistent then my Hacker Skill. Have you had a chance yet to take it out on the range or course? Was the magnitude of your hook misses w/ your driver reasonable?

There has been tests side by side out doors versu Trackman and GCQuad and the Mevo+ is rock solid outdoors.
I have used mine versus my ST in short indoor mode with the same distances as wormburner and i am a notorious pull/draw player. I know it is the worst shot shape in the game but i am to old to change that. Compared to ST i would say that Mevo+ has a more accurate shot shape compared to ST which is exaggerated.
It is all about setting the device up, it is sensitive to the height differences between LM and ball point and that the surface between ball and screen is flat and fine.
Super happy with mine and sold my ST after two weeks. They also got myflightscope.com to work the other day and next firmware update will make putting and chipping much better.

I have only taken this out one time to range. The data was on point, very impressed with Mevo+ outside. I am not sure how far radar reads the ball in flight but numbers would not populate on the FS app until ball landed. It seems to read entire ball flight, if not it reads most of it. Data seems to be spot on honestly for all shots. The only problem is that the FS app shot shape was illustrated incorrectly. I attached an image below showing data which reads for a draw but you can see shot shape were all fades. My ball flight that session were all draws of fell slightly left so not one fade but app read all push cuts. maybe this will be fixed. I sent email to FS support and commented on their forum for help but no response in two weeks. I Hit a PW and a 7 iron in this session. I may take to the range in the morning for my warm up just to get more data to share. I will use my driver to see how it reads it and update you on results.
