  • Mevo+ setup to minimize interference

I ordered my Mevo+ a few days ago with plans to start building a set up in my garage until it gets here. At this point I am still trying to decide how to go about this. I am likely going to try to build a sim that I can break down in order to fit cars in the garage. After reading everything I can find though, I am becoming increasingly worried that the presence of some steel cabinets, shelves, and slat-wall might cause interference.

Option 1: The cabinets run along the back wall of my garage and I planned to put the simulator adjacent to the cabinets (so that I would be facing them at address). The reason for placing it here is to avoid the garage door runners/components. This seems to be the most likely solution but I'm extremely worried about interference from the steel cabinets. As of now there are also 2 2'x8' shelves and some slat wall panelling with gardening tools and a lawn mower along the left wall, but I can always move that to the right wall.

Option 2: Would actually allow for more room and likely less interference but I'm not sure how I could set it up with the presence of the garage door runners. If I was hitting away from the garage door it would likely interfere with my swing. If I set it up to hit toward the garage door, the screen would get in the way of the door opening/closing, and the rails would hang in the hitting area. This option just doesnt seem possible.

Other than the steel cabinets, 2 shelves, slat wall, and basic lawn equipment, the garage is entirely wood. Has anybody else had issues with steel cabinets causing interference? I can't find much information in where in the radar field will the items cause interference. Does anybody have an idea if this set up will be a problem, or have any better suggestions? Any input would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

I'll be getting my Mevo+ today finally, and I have it setup in my garage too. I have a screen and net frame made out of EMT and a wire metal shelf about 10' off the ground on the left wall. I doubt it'll cause interference but I'll post later when I get it and can use it. From what I've heard from others and FS directly is that something very close to the device is the issue, what if you caddy cornered the screen? That's what I did to accommodate my swing and the door runners/motor.

Oh it's been 3 months and 4 days since I ordered lol. I'm following the UPS truck on the map now and it's not too far away. I made sure all my measurements and mat location were good and square in my garage last night lol. Marked off the spot where the Mevo+ will be and hope it's as simple as connect to wifi and swing!

Thanks for the info about the EMT likely not being a factor. I have an EMT frame setup and am waiting for Mevo+ shipment in the upcoming months, but was getting really worried about interference from the frame itself.

Thanks for the insight. There won’t be any metal within ~5 feet of the mevo+, so fingers crossed option 1 would still work fine. That’s a good thought but I was hoping to have the screen flat against the wall to allow for 2 cars to pull in the garage. And I am planning to have retractable curtain nets for the sides.

I’m doing your option #2. To make it work I’m raising my garage tracks and would like to install the Stealth Elite retractable screen from par2pro.
