Mevo+ Placement & Tilt settings

I got my Mevo+ this week and finally had some time to really play with the unit. Noticed the distance from the unit to the ball has a major influence on distance. I had the unit about 8'10" from the ball and distances were way short, then moved it up a foot (adjusted in the FS App) and short clubs were close to what I expect. Mid irons were a struggle though, due to lack of launch. Possibly it had to do with my tilt angle. Going to keep playing around until I find the right setup. So wanted to ask a few questions to the guys who have gotten it to work reliably

* Distance from Ball to unit (Physical and in app)
* Tilt settings (FS & e6)

I've had several months with mine now... and learned a lot about the Mevo+ setup quirks.. I'll tell you what is working well for me.. but I think everyone's device and environment may need subtle tweaks depending on your needs and tolerance for misreads.

In my setup, I have 9 feet ball to screen.. which is plenty.

I use both E6 and FS Golf, and switch between them often... what I don't like is having to move my Mevo+ back and forth to have it at the recommended 7' from the ball for E6, and 8' from the ball for FS apps... sooo here's what I found works best for me.

I have my Mevo+ 7' 8" behind my ball. I set that same distance in both E6 settings and my FS app settings. When I play E6, I use the plastic template to adjust the tilt angle to around 12 degrees. When I play FS apps (Golf or Skills) I just fully extend the leg...

This works well for me. Works well in both apps for full swings, chipping, and putting. I seem to get similar numbers in both apps, and it's what I see on the course as well.

When playing around with various distances from the ball, I found that the FS apps don't seem as accurate when the Mevo is at 7'6" or closer... I'd get much lower launch readings in the FS Apps the closer the Mevo gets to the ball.. so I backed it up until it seemed in line with E6 and what I know my numbers to be... 7'8" was as close as I could get and still get what numbers I deemed acceptable. I wanted to stay as close to 7' as I could to reduce mis-reads or no reads with short chips and putts in E6.

If you have zero issues moving your Mevo+ around between using E6 and FS apps, the recommended 7' and 8' work best.. but I have no issues with the middle ground that seems to work for both without a lot of moving around and re-aligning.

Interesting stuff. Did you try 9' or more? I have mine setup at 9' but if it's legit better to have it closer, I'd try that.

If you mean from ball to screen distance, 9' works best in my setup... I could go 8' but feels a little close to me.. not bad.. but I have the space... I could go as much as 10' so I did try 10' away... but I didn't notice any difference in numbers for me between 9 feet and 10 feet. Nothing made me say "man.. this is so much better at 10'" so instead, I put a nice table and some lockers behind me rather than go 10 feet.. and at 10 feet away, I may start hitting the top of my screen or ceiling with full wedge shots.

8' worked fine too.. but I did think it worked every so slightly better at 9'? could have been in my head though... and I figured, I have the space, it can't hurt to be at 9' since 8 is the minimum recommended distance.

Tony I switch back and forth between FS golf and E-6 as well. I thought the distance was 8’ for both except for putting in E-6 which is said to done at 7’. Has the recommended distance changed? I have been looking through the E-6 manuals and webpages and can’t seem to find anything on it. How do your short chips read? A lot of mine have crazy launch angles and heights. Also how are your disconnect issues going? Mine seem to be most prevalent in E-6 and just about always when I putt. Then I need to restart the mevo+ and E-6. It’s a real PIA.

7' really is for putting... 8' is optimal for full swing... but I putt from the same place I do full swing... I have played E6 from full swing to putting all at 7' before without issues. FS Golf really didnt like to be any shorter than 7' 8" so I keep it there for convenience, and works for me.

Chips have also been pretty good for me at this distance too..

I dont have as many disconnects as I used to. Rarely in E6. More often in FS Golf. It actually doesnt disconnect... the app usually stays connected to Mevo but the Mevo stops arming... then have to power on and power off. I hear that the recent 1.0 firmware released the other day may solve that.. I havent installed it yet though to see.. and its 90+ degrees in the garage..

Outdoors into a net. 10 feet ball to net. I played some on e6 at 12deg ~7'8" ball to unit and thought the distances were generally accurate.

Is the ground you play on level? My backyard has a slope to it. To eliminate some of it I built a bridge from my mevo+ to my hitting area. The bridge is about 30” wide. The bridge matched the grade of the yard so the angle is off by about 1*. I am not sure if that makes a huge difference in the grand scheme of things. My distance to the net is 10th and 8’ to mevo+. My biggest issue is not really knowing what my real swing numbers are as I am a work in progress (which is code for I suck but I‘m getting better) As always, best of luck and please report back with how it’s going.

It's not perfectly level; there are some slight bumps but I think in general it's close enough. One thing I'm going to work on is getting the actual area for the Mevo+ more leveled.

Your setup is way better than mine; maybe down the line I'll try something like that. Going to start a backyard remodel first which will hopefully provide a better space.

fwiw, I went with 7'6" distance to unit in e6 at ~12, 8' ~17 tilt in FS Golf. Other than driver I think the results were good. Driver, I know I'm not hitting good, but still think something's up. AoA can get crazy at times, spin is immense, and ball speed is a ?. I haven't swung driver much this year, so want to get the unit out on course this week and compare.

Fwiw, so far 17 degrees of tilt at 17’4” looks solid for me on fs golf. Will try and run through the bag next week and confirm
