    My Mevo+ first impressions

Just got my Mevo+ this week and have played with it for the past 4 days. I'm an 8 handicap and know my game well and I'm completely satisfied with the unit.

Setup: I have more than enough space to for the unit so I followed the 8ft Mevo+ to ball and I have 10.5ft to my impact screen. I have a level surface from the unit all the way through, so no leveling issues to deal with. I didn't find the setup for FS Golf to be hard at all, and the results through the bag were spot on for what I see on the course.

Driver for me seems to read pretty accurate. I average 97 - 104 swing speed and I'm getting what I think are my normal carry and total distance numbers which is 250 yards + / - 10 yards in either direction.

    Irons are 100% accurate.

Wedges seem slightly long for me, but that could be due to hitting off of a mat and not getting the normal spin I would see on the course. My 100 yard club on a stock swing is going closer to 110 on Mevo+.

E6 Connect via Ipad: I'm just projecting the Ipad to my impact screen. I'm totally fine with the graphics at this point and it's totally playable for my purposes. I've enjoyed all of the courses that come with the unit and it's been fun learning to play sim golf. Based on previous posters and Jays videos I used the FS golf app to get the 12 degree tilt prior to going into E6 instead of using the included plastic setting device. So far so good with this setup. I think the unit performs better if it's a little closer than 8 feet, so when I play E6 I move it to about 7.5 feet and this seems to work better for short chipping and putting.

Chipping and putting: It's going to take some time for me to figure out how to chip short enough. Those 21 or 22 feet chips are tricky to get a feel for and will probably require some practice. Putting is so so for me. My advice would be to just let the computer do the putting for you. Maybe I'll revisit putting in more detail, but I would rather just get to the green and not have to deal with putting.

Kids using it: My son is 10 and just getting into golf more. He is a total wreck right now, so no consistency at all with his hitting. Tops a lot of drivers and irons or will pop them up and direction is all over the place. Mevo+ to picks up most of his shots, but not all of them. For him his driver swing speed is in the high 50's low 60's and he can carry it about 100 yards on a good hit. Mevo+ picks up everyone of his well struck shots. When he tops a shot and it never gets up Mevo+ tends to not read it at all which is expected. Overall it's been great for him and now he can't tell me he hits it 150 on the fly.

Lot's more testing to do, but I've been super pleased with it and think it's a fantastic tool for the price. Well worth the wait for me and will be a blast to use this winter to keep my game up. I am using the metalic dot on my golf ball and my next test will be to see how big of a difference it makes to have it vs not having it. More to come.

More testing over the weekend. My one takeaway is that you have to tinker a little bit with positioning of the unit. What I mean by that is for E6 I was noticing all of my shots were going left of target even though alignment was perfect according to the software. So I adjusted it ever so slightly and shots were back to being online. I think for players who are pretty consistent with their shots it would be a good idea to do a quick 5 minute range session in E6 to make sure your stock shots are heading straight prior to going out on the course.

Everything else has been great. Like others I am noticing a bit higher spin numbers for driver, but overall can't complain that much. Did some testing with and without metalic dot this weekend and to be honest didn't really notice much of a difference at all. Maybe a bit less spin without the dot, but nothing drastic that I could tell. Yardages all seemed accurate to me during my round of testing.

Also downloaded Creative Golf 3D demo. Really love that range over the E6 range. You only get 6 shots, but with a few more clicks you can take 6 more shots, so it's a great demo that is very useful. Also you don't need a super powerful PC to run it on. I just have a basic laptop with the internal HD 630 graphics and it runs in high resolution. The one par 4 is a good test of how the game would play and I felt chipping was easier vs E6.

great comments - definitely a great way to get and keep my boys into golf without the inherent struggles of a full round!

I have had my device for a couple of weeks and i agree with you - quick to setup - 100% on the irons and wedges are flying a bit further.
Also with the setup - i am going to use a right angle to make sure the device is square to my target/alignment sticks.

I am going to try the awesome golf 14 day trial soon - that looks great for range work an load of fun for the kids - my daughter is 3 ; i am hoping she will give golf a try in the next few years - awesome golf will certainly help.
I also like the graphics - as the IOS E6 is a bit ropey.
