Mevo+ indoor setup with side protection/interference with reading the shot

Hi all,

I am thinking of getting a Mevo+ for indoor use. If I have a hitting net that I can supposedly use indoors, what is available/suggested for the sides to ensure that any errant shots do not destroy anything else in the basement. I'm a new player and the likelihood of missed shots is high. I know the Mevo needs to be 8' behind the ball, and also needs a minimum of 8' for ball flight so I am wondering about side protection if the ball is 10'-15' from the net or screen. Would it interfere with the unit reading the shots?

If you want to be Uber careful, then get some archery netting. I think this would be overkill, but it would do the trick. I would just put up some heavy black curtains. I think you can find a few postings on what others have used on the forum. The archery netting could be a cage type and give you a good solid net to hit into as well or it could back up your screen and hopefully prolong its life. You go this route, suggest getting white netting.

Archery netting is something to look into. I’m wondering if I need this over the top/ceiling as well. I imagine that 8’-10’ from the ball being struck that the ball will fly fairly high. That might be my limiting constraint on height instead of club swing, but I’m not certain.

My set up has archery netting protecting my ceiling. The only clubs Fromm about ten feet that hit the netting is my wedges (54 and 58).

Dax, how high is your netting? My ceiling is just a tad under 9' and I'm wondering if that prohibits using a Mevo+ indoors due to wanting 10' between ball and screen/net. Basically, the length and width of the room are not limiting, it's the ceiling height. If my netting is too taut, I risk a ball ricocheting back and causing pain/damage.

My ceiling is about 9'2". My netting comes out about 6 feet and I hit about 11 or 12 feet from screen. At the low point the netting sags around 6 to 8 inches. Ball just deflects off the netting. In an old set up I actually put some memory foam on top of the netting and this worked very good.

This seems like an excellent idea. Basically construct the top and sides with archery netting, coming out about 6'-8' and laying some memory foam on top of the netting. Not as concerned with the sides, as they will be several feet from the walls.

I see by your profile you use a TM, have you had any experience with lower end devices? While a TM4 or FS X3 is ideal because I'd really love swing data, the jump in cost is something I just can't justify right now. Thinking about Mevo+, but I've heard good things on this site about ProTee which has club data.
