    Metallic dots and spin rates

    I am a long-time X2 user. I have a backyard set up, hitting into a net.

Spin rate is the only data parameter that is problematic. I am conscious of placing the dots on the target line axis. I would estimate that 33% of shots have a spin rate misread (i.e., the data is low and italicised). With new dots this number is lower. My theory is that the (coarse) net damages the dots, which compromises their ability to do whatever they do.

Does my theory have any merit?

Should I create a "softer surface" where the ball hits the net? If so what might material would work?

What is the current "best practice" to ensure valid/reliable spin rates? Any home made remedies? Anyone using snowman configurations (two dots side by side)?

How old are your golf balls? Due to my screen I am rotating them out When they begin to show wear a d thus a new dot is used when I replace them.

After a week or two of testing all the options.....The snowman configuration (two dots side by side) and careful placement of the ball so that the target line bisects the snowman ....is the best system by a considerable margin.
