  • Mevo+ Putting Success?

I just got my Mevo+ about a week and a half ago and overall have been having a good time. However I have struggled with the really short game. I dread anything under 60' to the pin. While I have made some adjustments to my setup to make sure my hitting mat and Mevo+ are more on an even surface which has helped quite a bit with chipping. I have still found putting is nearly impossible. I have run the environment app and the only interference I get is when I am charging and its still green. I have taken my mevo and put it on my basement floor so its all even and tried short putts with no success. I can get long 40-50' long putts to register about 1/3 of the time. I have tried other individuals hacks of grounding my club but no success. At the moment I am using E6 connect and would be interested in TGC2019 in the future. However I dont see a lot of options of joining online events if I can't putt.

And nothing is more frustrating than being on the fringe of one side of the green, chip 15', have it roll 40' to the other side of the green and start..all...over...again=(

I haven't tried creative golf, how do you find the graphics compared to other software like tgc and e6? I think I'll download the demo and try it out!
I've been playing tgc 2019 and I have to say I really enjoy it! The one thing that drives me absolutely crazy is the uphill lie bounce glitch, and the low shot first bounce which is essentially the same glitch. Other than that really enjoying it.

I have been having lots of success with a new putting method however. On short or slow putts that the mevo would normally struggle with, I take my normal putting stroke and as soon as the ball leaves the club face I pull the club away from the ball towards me to get it out of sight for the mevo. I find it easier than grounding the club, but that's just personal preference..

I have to thank everyone that contributed to this thread. After a lot of frustration I finally have the Mevo+ working very well with putting and short chips. I still have the odd no-read with putting but it's pretty rare (maybe 1 or 2 every 5-6 rounds). The short chipping is working flawlessly and I can't remember the last time I had a mis-read or no-read on a short chip. Even chips as short as 3 yards are working for me.

It took quite a while to get use to the putting and understanding the speed but it's really going good now.

I pretty much only play on TGC2019. I haven't tried this yet on E6.

I have the Mevo+ set at 11-degrees and I make sure the roll is set to 0.0. I am 11 feet tee to screen and the Mevo+ sits 7 feet behind the tee. I putt 4.5 feet in front of the Mevo+ and roll my putts about 6" to the right of the tee (looking at the screen). In the TGC2019 Flightscope console I also check off slow swing speed in the settings, although I'm not sure that makes a difference.

Neepster - I am chipping from the same spot I hit all my shots from. I was getting those sky rockets as well quite often and it is so frustrating but I can't remember the last time I had one of those.

3on3putt - Not sure I've had a chip that short since I got this figured out. My shorter chips typically have a bit of spin and they seem to land soft but I'm not sure about that short. I'll have to go to the chipping green to test that.

I often find myself short-sided with a green sloping away from me where I only have to chip it about 2 yards in the air to land it on the green and let it feed down to the hole. So the flag is maybe 7 yards away but I'm just off the green and only need a 2 yard carry with the slope. (I also have zero discipline and fire at every single flagstick so I find myself here a lot lol).

That's a tough chip on the sim and in real golf!

      Hi JayJo,
what was the general change that the chips are reading now?? I get some better results for putting but not for chipping.....
      Thanks

I can't really pinpoint one thing but the setup I had before was basically the Flightscope setup recommendations with 8' Mevo+ to tee and putting 7' to Mevo+ off to the side. I was getting a lot of mis-reads on chips and it was driving me crazy. I was trying different putting surfaces non-stop but it's clear it was my setup. Maybe it's that slow swing speed box that checked off, I'm not sure.

I have to agree - with the comments above. After having the mevo+ for a few months now i seem to have cracked the putting. I rarely get misreads, the occasional dodgy putt that goes a stray but on the whole it fine. I do have 10ft gimmies enabled so not sure on the really short ones. Chip shots seem to register also. i tend to play a 56 degree shot when on the fringe and always registers.

Here is my putting setup below - nothing special but works

Stupid question, when you say “check off slow swing speed”, do you mean turn that setting off or on?

Foofighter Not a stupid question, I should have phrased that differently. It's checked, meaning it's on.

Thanks for clearing that up! My putting has been very consistent now that I have 10’ gimmies setup!

I am new to the sight and this is my first post, so apologies in advance if this has been addressed. I have the Mevo+ and having similar chipping and putting issues as started in this post. I am wondering if my environment is messed up - I have a Fiberbuilt 7x4 studio and will be putting down a runner which will make the surface level from the unit to the hitting area and putting area. Is anyone aware of DIY where the Fiberbuilt studio mat environment is all leveled between the unit, hitting and putting area? Unfortunately the current setup is in the garage until our 4 season room is done this next Spring. Thanks in advance for your help!
