  • Flightscope Mevo Plus with Ipad Pro

For those using Mevo plus as a simulator only through an Ipad, would be interested in any tips on screen size, projector etc...Distance not a problem, will be in the third bay of garage, and am building an enclosure. Would like to do this without buying a gaming computer, because I have heard the Flightscope apps included are IOS only. Have an IPad Pro, so hoping quality of image is OK, but know it won’t be as good as a gaming PC. Thanks!

I have been using the newest iPad Air (Bought in June I think) and have not had any issues with it. I had a little projector that I connected to an AppleTV which seemed to work, the projector was a cheap little one though and not very clear, so I don't use it. But If I had a nice projector or am thinking of mounting a TV out there then I wouldn't have any issues with it. I also have mine set up in the garage.

The larger the image the easier it will be to see the data. I know some people are using apps on their phones to project to a small TV. The image on the devices are not all that great when you blow them up because they are formatted to fit a small screen. This effect would be really bad on a projector.

I run E6 on an iPad Pro with mevo+ and use a benq short throw projector onto a 151” (8x10.5) impact screen. My projector is right over my tee position... about 9’ from the screen. I have to use the zoom function on the projector to fill the whole screen because the iPad renders it smaller for some reason but it looks fine. The landscape and stuff is a little choppy but it doesn’t bother me and like you said avoids the cost of a gaming PC plus the added license fee.

The image on the iPad itself I think is actually pretty good and I’ve also projected onto a TV which is sharper.

This video is a helpful comparison on PC versus iPad graphics if you’re still on the fence at all:

Hi MJ328! I use SkyTrak via iPad Pro as well. When I mounted the projector - it filled my screen perfectly (screen size is 9 x 15) - but for some reason, when I connected the iPad to the projector (BenQ ST as well) - the image became smaller and there were black edges all around it.

I am stuck - do I have to move the projector back (remove the mounting and bust up another portion of my ceiling)? I will try the zoom function and see if it helps. Thanks for pointing that out.

Second, you mentioned you also had the image come out on the TV - how did you do this? So it comes out on the projector and also on the TV?

          Thanks!

Thanks for the responses. I’ll start with it with my IPad Pro, and a short throw projector to see how it looks, but from what I’ve seen online, it seems doable.
